Review summary

The ship was nice but some of the staff was so unfriendly.  No smiles or anything.

I will choose a trip with no kids next time.  The parents let their children run free and staff couldn't control them or didn't want to.

Drinks were sooo high.  I have bartend on the side for 19 years and $10 for a margarita was just a bit too much and I didn't like how the how you had to pay for EVERY DRINK when you ordered instead of a tab.

Choose an outside cabin. Make sure you put the sign on the door if you don't want service. ( The person knocked and opened door without waiting for a response. )

Ship tip

Put money on your account instead of using your card. They put a hold on it and depending on your bank, your funds may not be released for awhile. Get to events early, some entertainment was standing room only.

Thanks for the review and the pictures.

All cruise lines seem to have jacked up drink prices. If you stay in one spot usually I've been using my card once and pay the total tab of all drinks when I leave. I assume you used a debit card and not a credit card. I've had no problems with a credit card.

Yes I am aware of the signs and the bolt locks ...just was pointing out how the person was knocking and opening the door at the same time.

Also - there are usually do not disturb indicators that you can hang on the door latch or insert into the card key hole. If you don't have one, request it from Guest Services or your steward.

The cabin door has a dead bolt that you can lock when you do not want staff to come in while your in the room.

mizchampagne,

Thank you for posting a review of your experience. My experience is that lines like Carnival and NCL attract more family cruisers because the baseline price is budget-friendly.  If you want to avoid lots of little ones, try cruises of 2 wks or longer duration on lines like Princess and Celebrity.  I can't say there are no kids on these trips but there are definitely less of them.
As far as parents letting their kids run loose, that's a poor parenting problem, not a cruise line issue.  No one should substitute for the parent in terms of supervising young ones.  Cruising should not be seen as an excuse to not keep an eye on your children, especially the schoolagers who tend to run, rather than walk.  Sorry if this irks a few parents reading this but your kids really aren't as cute as you think they are when they are disrupting someone else's vacation. :/
