DECEMBER CRUISE by Happysenior

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The food was better in presentation, and tastier.  My dairy allergy was handled with several choices as an

alternative.  The dining room staff had jokes to keep us laughing and appreciative of the handling of our

wishes.

Exceeded our Expectations by HappyTwosome

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

POSITIVES: A good value; easy to get a table for two in the dining room; a HUGE variety of shore excursions were offered because our ship's passengers were combined with those from other Carnival ships in port at the same time; reasonably priced shore excursions; casual atmosphere and dress code; friendly and personal service from the staff; easy to get a chair on the Serenity deck; excellent programs for children--they seemed happy and entertained and were not in the way of adults like us who were traveling as a couple; the passenger list included a wide range of ages and everyone seemed to find something to interest them on board.

NEGATIVES: Not enough information was offered on ports (history, points of interest, etc) other than shopping and paid shore excursions; ocean-view rooms almost always had condensation on the window exteriors so you couldn't see out clearly.  And we were directed to keep our curtains drawn all day to block the sun to keep the A/C working effectively.  So why pay extra for an ocean view?  Next time we will save money by taking an interior cabin;

Relaxing trip by SharonB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Small ship that had the most pleasant staff!  Good food in the diningroom but limited choices in buffet area. What food was offered was delicious.  Large, clean cabins with  dedicated stewards. Adults only area small without a pool, but had 2 jacuzzis. We had a very relaxing vacation.

that'a wonderful trip in my life by bluelike1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

good service, good enviourment, every thing is  wonderful!

Paradise, which at one time was the industry's only all-non-smoking cruise vessel (the company abandoned the philosophy at the end of 2003) remains a beautiful ship, spiffy-clean, easy to navigate, and filled with the attributes -- tons of activities, great food, Camp Carnival for kids, wonderful pools and sun decks, first-rate entertainment

Pleasant cruise by rich659

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Most things aboard went as we hoped and expected them to.

Good:  Clean ship, stateroom, bars, lounges.  Food good, but unremarkable (no "wow, yummy, gimme more!").  Dining room service was terrific.  Room steward prompt to clean and set up stateroom.  Entertainment teams and activites were enjoyable.  Serenity deck much appreciated and well maintained.

Could be improved:  Sound system during production shows in main showroom was not so good to my ears.  Hand microphones did not provide consistent quality... sometimes spoken or sung words were unclear, or echoed.  Don't have a clue what to recommend, not being an audio engineer.  Although dining room service was terrific, occasionally, not all flatware, glassware or service utensils were in place.

REALLY needs help:  casino exhaust system.  Even though areas were designated as smoke-free, smoke from nearby areas drifted and made that part of the cruise experience less than enjoyable.  Other cruise ships (Carnival and HAL) have not affected me to this degree.

Great Ports, Old Boat by MrsSquires13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ports were amazing but the boat wasn't nearly as great as some of the other Canival ships that we have been on. There were not nearly as many activities to do during "sea days" as the other Carnival ships. We found ourselves bored with nothing to do but nap and eat during the day. The ports definitely made up for the boring sea days though!

AGE LIMIT FOR THE DISCO LOUNGE by TIERNAN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

THE YOUNGEST OF OUR GROUP OF 22 GUEST WAS MY GRANDAUGHTER THAT WAS 2 WEEKS SHORT OF YOUR AGE REQUIREMENT OF 18 YEARS OLD IN ORDER TO BE ADMITTED INTO YOUR LOUNGE. THIS CREATED A REAL PROBLEM FOR OUR GROUP, WE HAD TO ELIMINATE SOME FAMILY FUN TOGETHER AS HER PARENTS WERE TORN BETWEEN GOING DANCING FOR AWHILE WITH ALL OF OUR FAMILY AND YOUR 18 AGE LIMIT RESTRICTION. I KNOW YOU MUST HAVE RULES TO PROTECT ALL GUESTS BUT REALLY (2 WEEKS ) SHORT OF 18 AND ALSO BEING WITH HER PARENTS SHOULD HAVE WARRENTED SOME EXCEPTION. PLEASE REVIEW YOUR RULES TO ACCOMONDATE FUTURE GUESTS IN ORDER TO INSURE THEIR FAMILY FUN. ALL OTHER ASPESTS OF OUR CRUISE WERE GREAT. .

Ship should be retired/replaced by JohnDoe2014

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Sadly the Paradise is too old and out dated. The smoke from the casino is outrageous. It can be smelled decks away. I found that smokers on this cruise smoked wherever they wanted. They dropped ashes all over the place. I guess this can be expected when you can get a 5 day cruise for $200.

The crew did do a wonderful job though so i have no complaints with the staff at all.

Relaxing by Magjordan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I found the cruise to be very relaxing and enjoyable.  The evening dining room service was excellent and the food variety and quality was good.  We loved the Serenity area as it was very peaceful and uncrowded.  We took a three hour excursion in Cozumel to tour the island and see a Muyan ruins.  The tour guide (Muy) was the best tour guide we had every experienced.   Our only regret was that the ship did not have accomadations with balconies.

Best Time of my Life! by BDPetersen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I am so glad that I choice this as my very first cruise experience. I was so very impressed by the ship, the entertainment and food available, as well as the hospitality of the crew. The ship itself was beautiful and spacious, plenty of room to house the thousands of people on board. There was great food available at all hours and a daily itinerary of the onboard entainment options such as hilarious stand-up comedy, brilliant borad-way type musicals, and even bad karaoke or even just hurling down the awesome waterslide into the Lido deck pool.  The staterooms, while small, were very comfortable and accomodating and I always looked forward to coming in to a new towel animal on my bed. I was definitely sad when the day came from me to debark. I would absolutely choose Carnival and the Paradise for another cruising adventure.

my first cruise by dale434

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Was a great time but not quite what I had hoped for.  Food was plentiful but not all the special, a lot of hot dogs and burgers and some fruit.  drinks were limited to the same thing each day.  There was so much advertising announcements to sell things,,,art, jewelry, more art more jewlery..not what I was there for.  Just to play one game of Bingo cost $20..really?  But ocean was calm and sun was bright, ship is an older and smaller model but kept up well.  Cabins were not even close to what was pictured on the advertizements ....very small..hope Carnival fixes that little glitch on their website.  I would  go again only this time with a bit more knowledge.

Fun! But wouldn't book their excursions by moni23

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

THE RESTAURANT & CLEANING STAFF IS EXCEPTIONAL ! I am starting with this because I don't think they get enough credit, Remy our waiter from Elation was Beyond  proffessional and in all honesty the absolute best server I've ever had the pleasure of knowing!! Humberto the other server was also really great!! Remy threw a surprise song and dance for our honeymoon and it was the sweetest thing they did for us all week! Asya in the coffee shop is amazing, this girl is the sweetest person to interact with, she puts a smile on your face and her customer service skills are truly great! Our housekeeper Sagi - LOVE HIM!!!  I adore his surprise animals he did for us and he made sure we were comfortable in our extra clean cabin! The excursion staff on the other hand, especially their main manager name starting with A , I want to say Aoki or something along those lines, was absolutely shockingly mean. We booked a trip for the Cayman Islands through Carnival, and I will never again book through them no matter where we go - I had a way better time in Mexico using the local tour guides rather than in the Cayman Islands where they made us walk to our buses in the pouring rain - where no one cared and had to do our tour wet from head to toe, The tour guide on the Boat tour with the clear glass to look at underwater was ridiculously rude he was holding a giant umbrella and watching us walk across without being courtious to help us stay somewhat dry and when I mentioned it to him he laughed and said something really smart ass along yeah cool right. I wanted to tell the manager about it then he tried to make it that I was making it up and lying - something I'VE NEVER IN MY LIFE EXPERIENCED! I was so offended by that he literally made me cry - something again that's never happened EVER!! And I'm a manager at a Hilton for the front desk so I know how situations need to be handled. Anyhow besided that our trip was AMAZING!!!  I love Carnival it's really fun! Love

Disapointed!!!!!! by lindapoole

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The people that worked on the ship were great, but the ship needs some work. We like sailing with carnival and most of the time we do. This ship was in need of some up grades. And we tell everybody about carnival and how much we enjoy the cruises we take. But I also tell them the ships not to take if I see something that I don't like. We will be sailing again in Feb. 2014 and looking forward to it. We have sailed on the Dream before and loved it.

26th anniv cruise by DawgsCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time on our cruise on the Paradise. Was it a five star Vegas hotel? No, but it was perfectly fine to us. The crew worked around the clock cleaning and the entire staff was friendly. If they happen not to be to you, chances are it's you and your attitude. These people leave their homes and families for 7 months to a year and work 12 hours a day 7 days a week with very little down time. And before you say "They choose to do this". Yes they did but look where they come from. They cannot make the money they do where they come from so cut them a little slack. The food was great and the only thing I didn't like was something I wouldn't like off the ship. Our waiter, Manny, was a lot of fun at dinner in the Destiny room and knew our names at the table within five minutes. Our cabin steward, Julio, asked us very single time he saw us did we need anything. Again, if yours didn't, it was you and your attitude and how you treated them because trust me I saw it too many times of people acting like tools. Yes they are your waiter and cabin steward but not your slave and do not treat them as such. We spent most of our time on the serenity deck enjoying the sea go by. The pools were small but if you didn't read about that before your booked the cruise, again that's a you thing. The people working the stores in Cozumel were aggressive but again this is how they make the little bit of money they get and I personally do not have a problem with someone trying to make a dollar. Overall we had a great time dancing, at the comedy shows, the casino and the game shows. We will only ever do cruises again and Carnival has not let us down yet. The biggest part of cursing is being informed . Read all you can before you go and treat the crew with respect like you want to be treated.
