Review summary

I wanted to surprise my wife with a special cruise for her birthday, so booked a suite and upon arrival we found out the balcony had a 90% blocked view. If you sat in the chairs, all you could see was a white steel wall. If you wanted to see the view, you had to stand. Total disappointment.

I booked a suite for my wife's 66th birthday and upon arrival found our balcony was 90% blocked view. What I thought was going to be a special trip for my wife, ended up being a total disappointment. Out of the past 10 cruise we have been on, this one by far was the worst room we have ever had. I asked the front desk for another room and was told there wasn't anything available.

Sorry you didn’t like your balcony. That cabin is right at the front corner of the ship. It definitely would need to be a solid steel plat balcony wall. I couldn’t imagine wraparound glass holding this key structural point together. Lots of internet reviews and videos showing what it looks like. I would have liked that you could see forward and to the side in this corner balcony. I wouldn’t have been bothered much that the wall is solid because it’s always hard to see well through a glass balcony anyway. When you want to see out, you just stand up. Good lesson to do a little research before booking, especially with a unique cabin/area.

Wow, I see others complaining about the same thing. Buried on the carnival website is the following: Standard Balcony Staterooms and Suites - the rail has a glass panel with the exception of the following: Cloud 9 Spa Suites (SS): 14205 and 14206 - the rail has a solid steel panel

Thanks for the review. It’s too bad that this cabin is not marked as obstructed view. Especially since it’s a Suite. Very frustrating.
