Review summary

Since we live in Northern California, we like the SF 10-day (Princess) to the Mexican Riviera in the winter months. We also have another couple who likes to join us. Well in early spring 2022, the winter itineraries "disappeared" for about a month. I panicked, thinking these were due to pains coming out of covid, and scrambled to find another cruise to Mexico. Well, we did this in Feb 2022 and really enjoyed it -- maybe because it was more than half-empty. Our cruise in December was "full" and much more Carnival-like. Loud and proud and a party -- esp at the central Lido pool deck -- you couldn't even talk to yourself ;-). Great for families and young people, a little too much noise and activity on the ship. We're not old, but we've outgrown this level of "excitement". The ports were great, as usual.

Embarkation

Releatively easy to get to Long beach from LAX (Uber XL for 4). Carnival team got us through quick and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Good food. No problem getting tables in MDR. Seems most folks went to buffet. The Lido Marketplace is really nicely laid-out, with great variety. Easy for breakfast and lunch. Plus, Cantina and Burgers are right outside on one end and pizza on the other. Buffet and sometimes MDR, the food was not always warm enough.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Track, fitness center, pool decks. Everything else seemed a blur

Entertainment

We didn't really partake in shows this trip. A hassle to get cram in dinner in order to get to the venue early

Children's Programs

no children with us

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent, even with a full house.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Large, but no longer felt spacious when full. Still very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Pretty much a repeat of our Feb cruise. Large, comfortable, clean cabin, with a sofa!

Ship tip

Serenity deck for adults to escape the noise. Even the aft pool deck hot tubs were a bustle

Easy, but a little busy. We had a plane to catch and could lounge around the ship. Uber XL to LAX
