Review summary

Despite being disappointed in some things (after not having cruised for a few years) we had a good time and met some great people. Service and Food were a big let down and other people were talking about it on the cruise too. Carnival is trying to make up their losses and it shows BIG TIME. We probably won't be sailing them again for a while but will go back to some other lines that we have been on.

Food and Dining

The specialty restaurants were Great! We ate at Bonsai Sushi, JiJis (that was our favorite) and we did the paid evening Pig and Anchor, which is better than the free stuff they make for lunch. The Dining Room was ok, my veggies always looked old and brown, we only went 2 times to the dining room. The Buffet was horrible. Carnival has really cut back on what they are offering and it wasn't great. The breakfast was the worst. The same exact items every single day, bacon every other day. Toast was left out before the buffet even opened so you were getting cold toast. They used to toast it fresh for you and make fresh waffles etc., not anymore and the selection is way less. The venues were open less hours, so several times a day, all you could get was pizza or a burger or the deli, thats it. There were huge lines for pizza at night because that was all that was open after 9:30 p.m. I think the deli was open until 10 or so.

Onboard Activities

There wasn't a lot to do during the day. Trivia Trivia Trivia or pay money to do deal or no deal or bingo. They really need to add some more things to do during the day, like they used to.

Entertainment

The rockmania (or whatever its called) was bad, we walked out. We have seen way better shows on other cruise lines. The show with the Violins towards the end of the cruise however was great. We thought the other venues music was just ok. Maybe there is a shortage of finding good musicians (like every other industry can't find good workers). We were diappointed in the piano bar guy( the one later in the evening) he always kept raising the pitch of his voice and it sounded bad, we have seen way better on other ships. The cocktail piano man, Jeffrey Munks is very talented and I started listening to his music on Spotify after I got home.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin served its purpose and we were comfortable. The cabin steward however was not very good at cleaning. I really wish when they turn down at night they would at least empty trash again like they used to. Our trash would fill up quickly and dirty dishes would be laying around until the next day (we don't leave them in the hall like some people, your not supposed to do that)

Ship tip

If you do the Mexican Riviera, do the outdoor things early on, like ropes course, waterslides etc. On the last part of the trip home, it gets super windy and cool and they close all the outdoor stuff.
