Ship: Carnival Panorama

Review summary

This is our first cruise ever. Many things were unexpected and new. Carnival Cruise is definitely a great choice for first-time cruisers as it provides a variety of options from dining choices to entertainments. While most things are free, Carnival Cruise does charge extra for things like internet, specialty dinings, and shore excursions. Most of the activities encourage you to spend more money like Bingos, jewelry, and Casinos. The ship is new and has many great facilities from water slides to Sky Zone and Skyride. The cruise director Emma is enthusiasted with a lot of energy. The shore excursions are interesting and the destinations have plenty of shopping and dining experience that gives you a good look at Mexican culture.

Embarkation

The embarkation was smooth and orderly. The only issue was we could not see where to check in our luggages for the porter to take onto the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
-Steakhouse: Terrific food and service, great ambiance, dessert were phenomenal. -Chef's table: A must-do. Great menu, activities. Unlimited amount of wines. The servers treat you like the royals. Awesome magic shows, great time with the chefs. -Main dining room: Good selection of food with many healthy choices now available on the menu. -The only complaint: The server lost our bottle of wine we ordered on the first day of our cruise. Everything else was perfect

Entertainment

The Ship's nightly Broadway show was OK. There is plenty of other activities throughout the day on the ship but there is nothing that is particularly spetacular coming to the mind.

Cabin / Stateroom

New cabin with many nice designs from USB outlets to towel animals. Our veranda stateroom had a great feeling with little light pollution at night.

Ship tip

One tip to all future Carnival Panorama cruisers: Use UBER whenever you can in Mexico. The price of the UBER fares is about 1/3 to 1/2 of that of a regular taxi. Use Uber/Lyft in Long Beach, CA can save you a lot of time and money also.

Visit Queen Mary if you have the time. It was a great experience walking on a ship museum. We stayed at Hotel Maya before and after the cruise. Great food and service.

Did the Camel Outback excursion. The guide was terrific and we did tons of stuff not mentioned on the excursion descriptions. Highly recommended.

Mazatlan, Mexico

Our speed boat excursion was canceled for no reason, but we did have a good time shopping in the Golden Zone of the city.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Did the Rhythm of the Night shore excursion. Terrific food, great service, great show. These guys would have won America's Got Talent if they decide to compete on the show. Highly recommended excursion
