Never had a bad cruise and this may have been 1 of the better ones. Excellent ports, nice crew, and food was good. Ship is exactly like Vista, and Horizon with a few minor changes other than sky zone but brand new.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation was okay after they got the back to backs squared away. We were priority and had no problems. Spent less than 2 mins at check-in, sat for 30 to 40 mins prior to boarding.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Fahrenheit 555 was good as always. Bonsai Teppanyaki was just okay but still worth the money. The buffet had some new options that we tried during lunch that was better than expected. The Horizons dining room was as good as we’ve ever experienced. We sat with a pretty nice couple so that made what could have been a uncomfortable situation better.
Ji Ji Asian Kitchen
5 out of 5
Mongolian wok for lunch was the absolute best lunch on the ship.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Lines for the sky ride seemed to go really fast. Being a sold out cruise didn’t affect lines for other things like the water park or sky zone. Not sure if sky zone at sea was a really good idea. Didn’t really see lots of people using it and we stayed on deck 7 where the entrance was
Entertainment
5 out of 5
All the activities we attended were good. They had a hiccup with what everyone thought was a fake newlywed couple on the love & marriage show. Emma being such a good cruise director didn’t let it affect the other couples. Emma is an excellent cruise director. Her energy is always very high. I think she’s a better CD than her husband Mike Pack on the Horizon.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Staff was absolutely great! Especially for it being their first 7-day cruise aboard this ship. Room stewards was the absolute best
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
New ship, everything clean and the crew seemed to was to keep it that way
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Ocean suite 7377 was definitely nice. Mid ship and smelled brand new as it probably should have. Got a lot of use out of the jacuzzi jet tub
Ship tip
Be ready for Emma! Her energy is always on 10. Her accent makes almost everything she says funny. New ship, crew is still adjusting, but they are working out the kinks as they go and most times you don’t even realize they are having any types of issues
Lots of people had me scared to get off of the ship at this port. It off and went downtown. Thought this can’t be all we are here to see. Hopped a cab to the other side of town where the beaches were for an island tour. Very nice and clean tourist area with hotels, Mazatlán sign, restaurants, beaches, and all kinds of things. We actually liked this port while everyone who only went downtown complained
By far one of the best ports we’ve ever cruised to. So much to do and lots to see. The downtown area beaches were free, full of restaurants, shops, vendors, and anything you could want. Hopped a taxi to go up to the rain Forrest. Stopped in a little fishing village to have lunch. Very good food and was able to watch people zip line over our heads, and a cliff diver at this location.
I agree, did the same cruise. Mazatlan was a brilliant port as we did the hop on hop off bus which did stops in all the areas to watch cliff divers, old town and the tourist gold / beach zone. Buses came every 30 minutes with guides permanently at each stop so you could take as long as you wanted.
