Review summary

Will never sail on carnival again. My wife was not allowed to sail with oxygen concentrator. Granddaughter was sick and they wanted to charge us $780 per person to terminate cruise in Catalina

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
All were quite acceptable.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Enjoyed the sail away party. It’s Carnival!

Guest Services / Shore Excursions

1 out of 5

Not very helpful and two very rude encounters. Was treated with condescending attitudes and lack of explanation of policies. We’ve sailed many carnival cruises, not any more.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
As expected.

Children's Programs

Did not use

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Would have been excellent except for guest services. Several rude guest services employees.

Ship Quality

I prefer the design, decor and layout of older ships.

Cabin / Stateroom

Redesigned Vista suite with separate bedroom and living room. Extra large balcony.

The $780pp is probably government charges for violating PVSA

I'm sorry your granddaughter got sick, but the cruiseline is upfront about costs if having to pay for any medical attention, as well as the oxygen situation

Thank you for your review and comments. I was aware of the no oxygen policy but did wonder about the use of concentrators as I too have a breathing issue. I suspect the limited germ filtering of a concentrator is the reason for not allowing them on board.

Sorry but not Carnival's fault except for the rude Guest Services people. And that seems to be a problem on with all cruise lines. Every other department has friendly staff.

There are companies that will deliver oxygen directly to cruise ships, for a fee, of course. When traveling with oxygen you always have to do your research, each business you plan to use has different protocols be it hotels, airlines, or cruiselines. Also, your cruise documents contain information about Carnival's sailing policies. This includes being partially refunded for cruises already begun, which you mention wanting to end the cruise on Catalina. Sorry, but in this instance the Carnival staff was only following their policy.

Appreciate your feedback. Just a note that you had to agree to the protocols when you checked in. The no oxygen is listed in there. Sorry you missed that part. Hope you find a cruise line without that stipulation and are able to sail again soon.
