Review summary
Here's a copy of the letter we wrote to John Heald Hi John, My husband and I just returned on 1/12/2020 from a 6 day cruise on the miracle. It was our 20th Carnival cruise. We previously traveled twice with you as our cruise director in Europe and had the best memories. This cruise, however, was the worst. Fortunately for us, Mother Nature was extremely kind and gave us perfect weather. My husband has Parkinson’s and is also going through chemo for cancer. We thought this might be a nice get-away since it was so close. He uses a wheelchair most of the time and I have limited mobility. The most helpful “staff” we encountered was the people helping with the tenders in Cabo San Lucas, which I can only assume were actually the locals. The staff on board didn’t seem to know what they were even doing. It felt like it was a training boat. When on the Lido deck I had to balance a plate on my husband’s lap for us to share. The waiters in the main dining room were doing the best they could. There was no time to converse because they were running around the whole time. They instantly knew our names and had a genuine smile and politeness the entire cruise but it was like dining with robots. The room steward couldn’t be found. We were contemplating removing the tip for the service, but chose not to. As I noted earlier, my husband uses a wheelchair and with the cancer sleeps a lot. The room wasn’t made up at least half of the time. We had our meals at the same time each day. The room wasn’t clean. I did more cleaning then the staff did. I took him up to the top deck the afternoon of the cocktail reception and when we returned to go to dinner, the invitation was on our bed and we had missed it. We never received the chocolate strawberries and the ‘gift’ of hangtags was a joke. As you know, everyone compares what they paid and we paid at least as much or more than other passengers and got the worst, filthiest balcony that we have ever had. I don’t know if this is typical to what is happening on all the Carnival cruises, but I definitely would not recommend it to friends. This is the first time we have had to complain. I contemplated writing this to you, but I can’t imagine that this is the treatment your guest should receive. I definitely don’t believe that any handicapped people should feel the way we were treated is acceptable and being our 20th cruise with you, I certainly did not expect this trip to be this way.
