Review summary

This wasn't my favorite cruise on Carnival but as I mentioned earlier, I enjoy the perks of being a VIFP. One of the people I was traveling with is Active Navy and needed to be in Bethesda, MD the day after we got home. Being able to do some of his laundry on the ship was a godsend since he only had time to unpack and repack when he got home.

Embarkation

Lots of confusion outside of the port building. Diamond and Platinum people were told to move from one area and then back to the original area. It was difficult to hear the people giving directions. Being Platinum we were toward the beginning of the line so it wasn't too bad for us. There was a disabled man behind us who needed a wheelchair and they told him he couldn't get one until he got inside. He was ready to collapse since he was attempting to stand for a long period of time which was very disturbing. Once we got inside, everyone was very nice and accommodating.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was good at the main dining room and the buffets. However, we were never offered coffee, tea or iced tea.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
There just wasn't much to do. This was our 17th cruise on Carnival and it just seemed like there wasn't much going on.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The talking towels on the tvs were awful. If I wanted cartoons, I'd sail on Disney. The singer/dancers were very talented but the shows weren't that great. The disc jockey played decent music but never said a word. I miss the days when we were greeted by a live, reggae/tropical band. I can get canned music at home. I did very much enjoy Diane Ford. She is very funny. The best entertainment was the waiters in the main dining room singing and dancing!

Children's Programs

We weren't traveling with children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service from our waiters and room stewards was excellent.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The Miracle seemed very old and run down. Lots of areas that seemed very worn.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our room was very nice except for all the chips out of the furniture. There was a bedside table on each side of the bed which was very much appreciated. Our last cruise on the Sunshine did not have a bedside table on my side and I had to put everything (cpap, book, glasses) on the floor).

Ship tip

For some reason, I just wasn't impressed with this ship. Maybe I've just been on too many Carnival cruises and I'm getting bored. I do very much enjoy the perks we get as Platinum members.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

4 out of 5
We embarked here so I don't have much to say about it.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

3 out of 5
We didn't do an excursion. Cabo was ok but not really my cup of tea.

Mazatlan, Mexico

5 out of 5
We went zip lining along with tequila tasting on our excursion. We loved the zip lining.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
We didn't do an excursion but walked along the water toward Old Town. The shops and restaurants were very nice and it was very relaxing. I really liked Puerto Vallarta!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had a late flight so we were able to have breakfast and disembark leisurely. I'm very glad to see that people with early flights are able to get off the ship early. We came from Wisconsin and had a really hard time getting flights home that worked for us. It's good to know that if we can only get a flight that is late morning, Carnival will get us off the ship in time to catch it.
