Review summary

We have done cruises out of Long Beach and San Pedro. It is super easy as these ports are very close to us and provide easy access. We have done this particular itinerary 4 times now and enjoy it each and every time.

Embarkation

We had "Faster to the Fun" pass so it was super easy .. our room was ready as soon as we boarded and we were on the Lido by 1:30 pm beginning our vacation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The Buffet was just the same quality of food you get at "Home town buffet" nothing wrong with it but nothing special .. well except you can get pizza 24 hr a day at the Pizza Port. The Dining room food was your standard fare for breakfast but good. The Dining room food was GREAT and I will say Better than what we got on the Princess cruise ... lots of selections and you did not need to limit yourself to just one of anything on the menu so that was nice to try new dishes. The selections and the side dishes made it easy for a couple of people in our party as they have allergies or vegetarians or didn't eat this or that .. so they were always able to work it out. The specialty restaurants were great as expected and for the extra you pay its a deal.

Bacchus Dining Room

The service was Great and the servers were a lot of fun which adds to a great meal.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
If you cant find something to do on your Cruise ship its because you choose to just sit and relax. WE did both. Enjoyed the Karaoke , Bingo, Comedy shows, nightly dancing events on the lido deck and on and on .. and we did just enjoy relaxing when we choose to there are lots of places on the ship to just sit.

Entertainment

Did not attend

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone on the ship was more than attentive .. even just the people who clean up .. they all greet you with a smile and ask if there is anything they can do for you. Our Waiter "VERGEL" was the best we have been on six cruises with him attending to us and he makes our trip that much better .... Everyone on the ship was just amazing.

Ship Quality

Its nice but needs updating. Getting a little tired and worn.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The size was great for two people. It can accommodate 3 people but it would be a little crowded unless it was a child. There is ample closet space and drawers. The shower is a nice size for adults. The bathroom is compact but having the vanity outside is great for primping while someone uses the separate bathroom. The beds are comfortable and the A/C works well. There is a mini fridge located in the room to keep items cold for snaks or drinks. The Balcony is a nice size for two Adults. The cabin was clean .. the bathroom was clean but dated and getting a little worn out .. the faucet was broken and the caulking in the shower was a bit moldy.

Ship tip

Take a couple of extra plastic drinking containers. You can use them to fill with half/half for your coffee ( they never deliver enough) . Use one for Tea or juices or milk to keep in your fridge in your room so you can have then when you want without having to leave your room or call room service ( which is slow ). Also if you do take a Thermal cup you can make your Mocha Coffee up on the lido deck. Just use a cup of the Hot Chocolate and add in Coffee to your liking. Bring Snacks and candies to keep in your room.

What can I say we live in Long Beach

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
We have been going to Cabo San Lucas for over 40 years. It is a different place now no longer a sleepy fishing town. Its a Tourist destination which is fine. You will do yourself a favor if you just bypass the "Gauntlet" of Hawkers when you exit the tenders where you disembark. Pass on all the offers and exit the Marina and go into town. The Shopping prices are way better and you get to see downtown Cabo. Also if you are into fishing at all DO NOT BOOK IT on the ship the prices are ridiculous. Since the ships itinerary now does two days in Cabo you actually have time to fish ... do it on the morning you leave the ship early ( usually 7am )... you can book the fishing boats right on the boardwalk and they have all the tackle you need and you can go out for 3-4 hours and be back in time to take your catch to Capt .Tonys right in the marina and eat it for lunch before you have to leave again. If anyone is interested contact me and I will give you some tried and tested good Panga Captains. And for those into shopping make sure to haggle ... My wife got a sterling silver necklace that started at $165 but ended up costing $45 .... so dont worry you wont insult the locals if you haggle its expected ...

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

If you go to PV then go to OLD VALLARTA. Grab a Taxi as you exit the ship. Have them take you to the beginning of the " Malecon " ( Boardwalk ). Then just walk the Malecon and all the shops and food places there and within a couple of blocks from there. You will also run into where the Church is and just walk in ( but just remember its a real church so please respect that ). If you walk the entire Malecon go to a restaurant at the end called " Si Senor" ... you can sit by the beach ( 20 feet away ) right next to the Mueye De Los Muertos ( Pier at Los Muertos ) . While you sit there and watch the sea and all the people enjoying the beach and the vendors who will bring the shopping to you as you eat Ceviche and drink Cold beverages you will think that you never want to leave .. and for those of you who like massages .. you will see the ladies walking the beach and will give you a great massage while you sit and sip your cold Margarita ... and the prices here are amazing ... if you do get a massage ask for "Rosie" she is the best and we have been getting massages from her for the past 5 years.

Disembarkation

Super easy. We had to leave our bags out the evening before we left. You do want to remember to pack enough to keep in your room for the next morning. YOU need to exit your room by around 8:30 am so when you do go to the dining room. Dont go wait in the overcrowded areas where everyone else is waiting .. sit and enjoy your breakfast and then when you are ready go down and disembark. Let everyone else go through the lines and hassles of collecting their bags. When you wait by the time you get down to where the bags are its a lot easier to find yours and you dont have to fight the lines.
