Review summary

I would go again on this cruise. The one thing I really hated on this cruise was that this guy that kept telling up about a value book. So we went to listen to his spiel and that's when we found out that this book he was pushing for discounts at both ports had a charge of $25.00. He made it sound several times before his sales show that the book was going to be free if you attended his spiel. Talk about a bait and switch!

Embarkation

Staying in a suite and having priority boarding was worth the extra money!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I have been on several cruises and Carnival's ship the Miracle served some of the best quality food I have eaten on a cruise. We had lobster and shrimp and prime rib. We had a special dinner at Nick & Nora's Steakhouse and the service and food was outstanding! We both ordered Lamb Chops with a Caesar Salad and Shrimp Cocktail (The shrimp were BIG)! It was well worth the extra $35.00 per person. I would do it again!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The Spa was great! I developed a pain in my back and the Acupuncturist got rid of it for me in just one treatment. I found most of the activities boring! I was hoping to shoot skeet of the ship and it was not offered. The pool was nice but way too many children. I thought children had to be in school in October and November and NOT on a cruise? The fitness center was ok and clean.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Most of the performers were average at best. I found the cruise director (Lee) to be a real pain in the ass! Lee was constantly informing of us of things that were for sale more than what was available for us to do on the ship for the 2 days returning to port.

Children's Programs

NO CHILDREN! Way Too many on board for a fall cruise.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The room steward Christian was wonderful. He made our cruise special and he went out of his way to have cookies and other treats in our room nightly. The dinner waiters in the 3rd floor restaurant were outstanding. Everything was done right the first time!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I found that the ship was well maintained but needed some paint on the outside on our balcony.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The Jacuzzi in our suite needed cleaning. When we ran it of the first time the water from the jets was black like mold and it formed a scum around the tub after draining it. The next day it was fine to use. The remote for the T. V. had a few problems when you wanted to change channels. The bed was just ok and separated the two twin mattresses every night.

Ship tip

I would stay out of the Casino areas! The smoke just walking through the casino made our clothes stink of smoke! It's time to ban smoking on ALL cruises.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

In Cabo we just walked around on our own. I have been there several times and there was not enough time to do anything special like go across the bay to Cabo St. Maria where the arts and pottery are featured so we sat at a local cantina and had a few beers to waste time.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
We took a 5 hour shore excursion that was great! It only cost $120 for both of us. The trip started at 11am and we were back to the ship about 4:15pm. We saw old Puerto Vallarta and a very old church and we went to a silver store (I did not care for). After leaving the store we traveled up into the mountains to a Tequila tasting where we learned lots about Tequila. We tasted 6 different Tequila's and our favorite was the Mango Tequila. They also featured chocolate and almond flavors beside the traditional Tequila's. After the Tequila tasting we went up the hill about 100 yards to a private lunch that was included with out tour. The food was excellent! We had fish and shrimp quesadilla's and a corona beer that was included. This is a MUST DO!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
It takes a while to get off the ship when there are 2124 people on board but it was very orderly. The parking at the port was expensive $19.00 per day times 6 days was $114.00 and needs to be included with your cruise if you have a suite!

Book not worth it.. We fell for it on our first cruise.. We learned quick. Didn't even use 10% of it... don't buy it!

You should get free parking if you get a suite??" . Sure, might as well have Carnival pay for your cruise and all your excursions too.
