Review summary

If you like to explore and do not want to be limited on time, a cruise may not be a good fit. If you would like to lounge, drink and eat. A cruise is perfect.

Embarkation

We filled out the pre-boarding information to expedite the process and start enjoying our vacation. We had a confirmation to board at 12:30pm. We arrived at the port of Long Beach to long, long, lines.....standing in the hot sun. Evidently the cruise boarding process was running behind. We spent 2 hours in 3 different lines to finally board the ship. We where set to depart at 4:30pm. The first announcement stated that the captain was waiting for a safe route from the coast guard. When we finally departed at 630pm the last annoucement stated that a tanker decided to leave prior to our ship and this caused the delay........

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Plenty of food, 24 hrs a day. The main food I was looking forward to eat, sushi, is an additional cost and not included in the package. We found that many, many items. Food, drinks are NOT included and you are billed additionally. I ordered room service. Requested BLT with fries. BLT was covered, I was billed 2$ for the fries????

Onboard Activities

Plenty to do. The casino is not very nice and it feels lime Vegas. You could cut the smoke with a knife, it was so thick.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
This was the best part of the trip. Tons of entertainment. Adam the director & Leon are awesome!

Children's Programs

No children

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The staff was touch & go. A few people stood out as truly enjoying their job and had the personalities to be awesome. Some wouldn't even crack a smile, including bar tenders......

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
This appears to be an older ship. Overall the common areas are constantly being cleaned. It was very common to see an employee with buckets comstantly cleaning.

Cabin / Stateroom

This is the toughest to rate. I loved the balcony. I slept outside almost every evening it was so relaxing and soothing. The housekeepers alwaya made sure to leave a towel animal My issue is that on our first night we found pubic hair on the sheets. We ended up stripping the sheets and sleeping on towels.

Ship tip

You are allowed 1 bottle of wine per person that boards. DO NOT PUT IT IN YOUR LUGGAGE. You must carry it onboard. I read conflicting Information, including emails from Cruise Only stating that you cannot bring alcohol. This is incorrect, at least for this cruise. Our wine was confiscated and never returned. We received a document stating that we could pick them up at the end of the trip. At the end we were I formed that the wine was destroyed... Really... I call BS on this.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

Close to our home. Easy to locate ship.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

This was supposed to be the first stop. It ended up being the last. Due to a tropical storm, week before. By the time we arrived all of the beaches were closed.... The water is amazing and a gorgeous blue. Too bad we didn't have time to enjoy. The shipped was supposed to arrive at 7am. We arrived a little past the hour. However, you need to be shipped to the main land. We were finally able to get off of the ship at 9am. We needed to be back by 2. :( The city is 100% built for tourism. Expect to pay$$

Mazatlan, Mexico

It was the most authtic of the three ports we visted. We hired a taxi driver who charged us $20 a gave us a tour of the male con (main beach area) and downtown. He also recommend an amazing restaurant to have breakfast. Most of our was spent in a local stall, by the beach. We have 15 beers, a huge fried fish and only paid $22. Yay!!!! The nice part was the restaurant was in the beach so I was able to go swimming. The water was warm and very relaxing.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

This was the highlight of the trip. We hired a taxi driver who charged us $40 to give us a tour of downtown. We really didnt know where to go or, what to do. I asked the driver "if you had a lazy day off what would you do? He took us to a small a town (I can't remember the name). In town we had a local fisherman give us a tour of the bay. Evidently Steven Spielberg has his home here, if this helps. We ended up on a small beach call Las Animas. You can arrove here by boat. OMG the food was amazing!!!!!! We ordered a dz oysters. They literally went to a boat, grabbed the days catch and served us.......I could have had another 3 dzs... amazing!!!
