Review summary

The service and amenities were good. The reason for 1 star is that carnival

allowed fake art hawkers Park West to pressure sell paintings to us. Carnival

has a share in the profits and that is why they are not responding to our complaints on Park West. I will give negative feedback about carnival in my social network

because of their partnership with Park West.

Simple solution, don't purchase any art work from park west!!!!!!!

I paid $650 for a watch onboard last month (May) and after the cruise, the absolute cheapest I could find one online was $794 + tax. Even if I would have found it a little cheaper, I still enjoy my "cruise watch", like my wife enjoys the ones I buy her. It's the time tested rule of shopping- if you don't know the value of the product is, don't buy.

I will admit I went to the Auction for the free champagne... They gave me 5 glasses and guess what?  I bought a painting, I didn't even know what I bought until I went to sign for it and it was an oil painting of The LOONEY TOON  characters.  I'm going on a cruise in less than 95 days from now.  I think I will skip the auction all together.

I am getting notifications for this post but when I come here, I don't see them :(

They have art work on the ships?

You cruise solely for art? Ok

Duckdodger91    8 years ago

I highly doubt Carnival pressured you into buying art work. That's your fault.

I've purchased art on two of my cruises, always pleased! Know One forces you to purchase, you bid IF you chose. You my or may not pay more for products on board, again.....your decision‼️

I go to the art shows for the free champagne! No, thank you, pertaining to art, goes a long way! Yes, thank you to the free champagne!

Every event of park west event starts with a resume of the rules, if you don't pay atention. It is easy to blame Carnival.

If you buy art, jewelry, or watches on a cruise ship, you're going to get ripped off. Enjoy the cruise and don't buy anything more expensive than a hat, t shirt, or Christmas tree ornament.

My non husband went found out how much the minimum bid was, got his free champagne and left. There was no pressure.

How unfair to all the hard working people on the ship.  You give a 1 star review for park west.   This site is to review the CRUISE SHIP,  not park west.  If you down grade every cruise ship that has Park West,  you will down grade all cruise lines.

How unfair to the crew of the ship that all worked so hard so you could have a good time.

You still did not explain what the issue was or how you tried to take care of it... your review has no credibility regarding the ship.

No one is forced to purchase artwork on the ship. My son and I even went to one of the art auctions and not once did anyone try and sell us anything. We just browsed through the gallery and watched some of the auction.

I went once, we did buy some nice paintings and had them framed. Don't need anymore so will skip them.

No one forced you to purchase

I understand what you're saying about Park West, but I just avoid the art gallery altogether, so no problems!!

.....your blog or the proper sites.

Your review was supposed to be about the cruise itself. I don't care which cruise line it's supposed to be about. It's not supposed to be a personal vendetta. Please save it for your the proper sites.

Park West is on just about every cruise line afloat.
