This was a very fun cruise. While nothing was wrong at all with the cruise itself my one point of feedback is that with a 8 day cruise there should have either been more ports of call or longer stays in the ports. We ended up floating off the coast of Virginia for a full day coming back which seemed like waste of time. Taking two days to get to Puerto Rico and another two to get back from Grand Turk is just wasteful.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We walked onto the ship quickly considering there were so many people boarding.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The main dining room experience was great. We visited the steak house and Italian restaurant on board which were both out of this world! The buffet is what it is - typically crowded with basic fare. Not bad just not as amazing as the other spots.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There was a lot to do on this ship. We took advantage of the pool, slide, golf, chess, track, gym, steam rooms, and more.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The USA Rocks show was great. No points taken away due to the main singers being British (LOL). The music, singing, and dancing were great.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
From bar staff, coffee shop attendants, dining room servers, stateroom steward, and everyone else we had no complaints. They all went out of their way to make the trip enjoyable.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The Carnival Magic is a bit dated as compared to more modern vessels. Everything was clean on board just old.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The room was adequate with a small balcony. The bed and pillow were about 6/10 in terms of comfort.
Ship tip
Be patient, smile a lot, and just have a good time.
At Amber Cove we did the Damajagua Falls excursion where you hike up the mountain and then slide down seven waterfalls. It was lots of fun and very rough as we were sliding down literal rocks and then dropping several feet into deep pools of water. The three of us that took this excursion ended up bloody somehow but we were still smiling and enjoying ourselves.
On Grand Turk we rented a 6-seater golf cart and drove around the island. We went to old Cockburn Town and had lunch at Barbies which was OMG WOW amazing! Then we headed out to the lighthouse and stopped on the way back at the Ridge Cafe. Later we went to Jack's Shack. The island is filled with donkeys and wild horses (one of which nearly killed us!). We liked Grand Turk so much we were trying to figure out how to buy property there.
This was the easiest disembarkation I've ever had. We just walked off the boat. Period. We decided to leave at 7:00AM, went to deck 3, and walked right off.
