This is the second time we have been on the Magic. We do like this ship. We had a very relaxing cruise and really enjoyed the family time. It was nice since it was close for us to drive to the port and not have to fly. If you have not taken a Journey's cruise you really should try it.

Most nights we ate in the dining room. We ate breakfast and lunch on the lido deck. For me the food was great since I mostly eat lots of salads. The rest of my family had no problem finding something. One thing that was different this time is there was no chocolate venue on the last day.

We enjoyed the gym, played lots of trivia, and went to some of the shows.

The crew is constantly cleaning the ship. It is an older ship and does show some wear but still a great ship.
Cabin / Stateroom

We had a balcony cabin. The cabin is small especially when there are four people. However at least it is a balcony. We did have issues with the TV. Twice it did not work. Other than that it's just a small room.
Ship tip
Have a good time. For us this was the longest cruise we've ever taken 10 days. We had great weather and really enjoyed the extra time we had.
We took a tour of Puerto Plata. It was a ship excursion. It was very hot and there was some walking involved. Many of the people on the cruise had difficulty navigating the steps. If you are not in reasonable shape or can't take the heat then you should stay on board.
We took a sightseeing tour here sponsored by the ship. It was a good tour for the amount of money we had to pay. They made frequent stops for you to shop and take pictures.
This is the fastest debarkation I have ever done. We did not have to show a passport. We just got off the ship and took a shuttle to the parking lot. We were out of the parking lot by 7:30 a.m.
