Review summary

We drove to the terminal from Virginia. Then on the ship, we had the time of our lives with amazing crew members. The excursions I mentioned in my other reviews were to die for. Finally, we got off the ship extra early and got back on the road.

Embarkation

All of the workers had customer service skills that were top notch. The lines are still very long and people were butting in front of us while waiting. Otherwise and overall, this was a good experience for me and my partner.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

All of the food was very good! I did not eat anything I did not like. The lines seemed long, but they went by very quickly! The 24-hour pizza and ice creams were a hit with me and my partner. The only thing I would add is more variety of desserts on your Buffett!

Onboard Activities

We got in the pool and used the walking track. The pool was VERY busy; which is expected on a cruise. I feel as if in the future when building ships, you could put more pools based on the number of people. For example, having more than 2 pools on a ship the size of the Magic.

Entertainment

We LOVED Flick. It was such a good performance. We also went to 88 Keys and Country Roads. The singers and bands are so talented. I was obsessed with the Caribbean Sounds player on the Lido Deck each afternoon.

Service and Staff

Yusup from the Northern Lights Restaurant sang me the best happy birthday I have ever heard in my life. He is a great performer and belongs in the spotlight! We adored our steward, Putra. He was the most accommodating and friendly person on the boat. He knew our names before we even told him our names. Putra was personable and deserves the world! He even talked to us when he saw us outside of our hallway. Putra is the best example of customer service in my opinion.

Ship Quality

As I said before, the ship could use more pools for the number of people who were on the ship. Also, I have never experienced closed hallways before. It was frustrating to go up the elevator and not have access to get to the other side of the boat. There was a door in the casino which took you outside. This door did not allow access back into the casino, which was annoying. We had to knock on the door to get another guest to let us in more than once. All of the common areas were very clean! We always saw someone cleaning at all times. One cleaner also took a picture for us which was nice.

Cabin / Stateroom

Based on what we were expecting, our cabin was great. Putra kept it very clean.

Ship tip

Focus a lot on the layout of the boat and take advantage of all of the food options!

Port Canaveral, Florida

It was a regular port and as I expected. We did not do an excursion.

Oranjestad, Aruba

The port was nice! We did an external excursion due to it being cheaper.

Willemstad, Curacao

This port had a lot of shopping options. We did an excursion where you swim with turtles and go to the beach through the cruise line. We had a blast and our guide was entertaining and knowledgeable. I would recommend this excursion to other people.

Grand Turk Island

This port had a lot of shopping options. We did a beach and open bar excursion for your island. We had a great time during it. All of the workers were nice and the drinks were good.

Disembarkation

This part was AMAZING. Our wonderful cruise director, Simon London, gave us the inside scoop that is we get to the fourth floor around 7:15, that they will let us off the boat early. We got off extra early and on the road for our 12 hour drive back to Virginia. The only bad part was the payment for parking was down and we had to go back and forth from our car to pay for our parking.
