It took 5 HOURS to get onto the boat, we couldn't go into the terminal because it was filled to capacity!! I was supposed to board at 12:00 so we got there at 11:20 but didn't get on the ship until 4:15 we didn't leave until 5:30 / 6:00 and was sooooooo behind but the captain overnight caught us up to where we were supposed to be. The staff on board was very friendly but the staff at the Miami's port where the most rude people I had ever encountered especially after standing outside for 4 hours in Miami's 98 DEGREE WEATHER!! I will be doing more cruises but best believe i will never be going on the Carnival MAGIC ever again. I went on the Carnival ECSTASY last year and it was a much better experience. 30 minutes to get all the way on through security and ever single staff I meet was so sweet.
Embarkation

TOOK 4 HOURS TO GET ONTO THE BOAT!! People refused to get off A.K.A Tom Joyner and his radio crew (even though they didn't want to tell us that) and They wouldn't get off the boat they had to have cops come get them off, They tried to tell us that they were just behind and the luggage was holding them up, but several people including myself heard the staff people say there's about 32 people who won't get off the boat because Tom Joyner rented/bought the whole boat to himself and his crew for the whole week and had to be off the ship by 6AM but couldn't manage that and they still couldn't manage to get off 6 hours later when we first got there and 9 hours all together, then the staff had to clean the whole boat because they couldn't before with the people in it. About 3 people had heat strokes and had to get taken out by the ambulance. Last year it only took 30 minutes from standing outside to on the boat. The staff at the port REFUSED to bring out chairs or anything for the older people who had back/knee/ any type of problems where they needed to sit down. They tried to give us hot a** water that no one wanted, and then offered to give a 15 DOLLAR voucher and get out of line and be back in 30 minutes to be back on the boat and lose your spot in line. No one used it, and they knew how mad everyone was by them getting cussed out and people keep complaining and asking whats up and was still in a bad mood once on the boat so they decided to give us a $50 card to use for on the ship credit. That helped a little but it was still by far THE WORST EMBARKATION PROCESS EVER!! no more MAGIC cruise for me the other ships from carnival have been much better.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The restaurants food isn't that good at all, We got served cold food one night. Almost every cruise is like this tho so we just go to the buffets and side places around the ship which is much better.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Some things are fun but all activities you have to pay for, after spending all you got on the ticket for the cruise.

Service and Staff

the Port staff at Miami was very rude saying they have no pity for anyone standing outside (3 people had heat strokes and they where older people too) when they were in the ac the whole time. Other than that the staff on board where very nice and respectful. Loved our stateroom guy.

Ship tip
I would suggest picking a different carnival ship to cruise on NOT the MAGIC
And the crew on the ship who wear the T shirts that say " ask me " don't know their right from their left . And if brains were dynamite, most of them couldn't blow their nose .
The people who get off the ship last should always be blamed . Get out of bed on the morning of embarkation, eat , and get off ! Is that so hard ? It is over .! Let the new guests board . And as for the pier personel in Miami they have always been the worst of any Pier .
Don’t be mad at Carnival or the Magic for the lazy, entitled people on the Tom Joyner cruise who slept in and refused to get off the ship well past the authorized time. According to previous posts, This isn’t the first time this group has had this issue. I think their is a reason they seem to switch cruise lines often.
I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience, I cruised on the magic june 22nd-30th this year. And we got to the port at 10:30am, was on by 10:45 am, whole experience was great. Hopefully the next time you cruise it's better, everyone has different experiences
