The whole experience was wonderful and we felt like we were at home, but like our home was a resort.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Sadly we missed the flight to get to the port and joined the cruise halfway through in the Dominican Republic. Once we boarded, we were treated warmly even though we didn’t deserve to be admitted.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Guys burger joint, the lido deck, and the norther frontier restaurant were phenomenal. Some of the other food options weren’t the best but we had plenty of great food to eat.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
A lot of the activities were really fun! We enjoyed the movies on the deck and the water slide particularly. There was always something to do
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We really enjoyed MarQ wherever we saw him, and the game shows were really fun to watch. We missed a lot of the shows because we only got to go on half the cruise, but entertainment was top notch.
Children's Programs
We don’t have kids
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The best part of the cruise by far was the service. Every crew member we interacted with was helpful and friendly and made us feel at home. Especially Gloria, our housekeeper, one of our servers at the northern frontier, Manuel, and there was another waiter at the same restaurant who was very nice, but we can’t remember his name. It was long and confusing and started with an I.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The areas were clean and well maintained, but I think the layout was a little confusing because sometimes the elevators did not connect to the rest of the floor, making it difficult to navigate. My only other complaint is that it smelled like smoke sometimes in places like the main lobby, and I’m asthmatic and it made it hard for me to be there.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was perfect
Ship tip
Don’t miss your flight! Also, plan out your day in the mornings and you’ll be sure to make it to everything you wanted to do and see.
We stayed in the Dominican Republic and joined the cruise when they arrived at this port. Our experience in the Dominican Republic was not at the carnival port, and we didn’t get to get back off the ship to do our excursion because it took too long to get settled in.
We had paid for a snorkeling excursion but they told me I couldn’t do it because I have asthma. I understand the concern, but I wish they would have told me up front when I was purchasing the excursion that I wouldn’t be able to do it. We ended up scrambling to find a different excursion and rented a private cabana. The excursion was okay. The service was decent, the food was really expensive, and the beach wasn’t very beautiful because it was very mossy and rocky, not like what we saw on pictures when we booked.
