Embarkation aside it was an amazing trip with fun port days and I will definitely be giving Magic another try in the future. Hopefully we don’t have another incident like before. I wholly recommend Magic and any other Carnival ship ( even though I haven’t been on all of them) because Carnival is for everyone. I can’t wait for my next cruise.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
This is not a rating I feel good about giving but I must admit that the embarkation process was very horrible. Not only did the passengers from the previous cruise not debark from the ship when they were supposed to we were forced to stand outside the terminal for hours in the heat. No would tell us what was going on. They printed a letter to us and passed them out while we were waiting outside that apologized for the delay but with no explanation as to why we had to wait for so long before we could begin the embarkation process. People were forced to sit on the ground because there was not enough places to sit. No where to get food or use the restroom and then they had people to come out and pass out water but it was no even cold. We ended up being given the chance to get transportation to Beyside where we could wait until embarkation process began but not everybody was being told about it. The only reason we heard about it was because we happened to be standing near by and heard one of the terminal people talking about it. The ship did not depart Miami until about 6:00 pm. Even though Carnival sent us an email earlier in the week telling us that the previous cruise would run a little late so get to the terminal at our scheduled check in time we were still standing there way after the process should have began. I understand there were celebrities on the previous cruise and that was one of the reasons we were held up, Carnival handled the delay very badly because we paid just like they did for our trip like they did. I know that no boarding is going to be perfect but this was just poorly handled and it saddens me to write this review about Carnival Magic when I have had previous great experiences with Carnival before. However, this experience will not stop me from cruising Carnival in the future because I absolutely lovely this cruise line.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
I was not excited about the food in the main dining rooms. Seems like they kept repeating the same things over and over. The food on the lido was good but nothing was ever hot except for the Guys burgers and place where they cook your stuff in front of you. But all in all it was good.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Activities as always were excellent, no complaints with the fun onboard as well as the pool areas. Didn’t do rock climbing or go to the fitness center (cause I’m on vacation and ain’t got time for exercising) so I cant give an opinion on those.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Excellent and fun.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our room stewardess we didn’t see much because we were at port most days of our cruise so we’re out the rooms early and we had morning cleaning. Wait staff was good especially Justin in the Southern Lights Upr. dining room. Everybody was friendly.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Ship was amazing and beautiful and kept very clean. My second favorite in design, my first favorite would be the Pride.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin was great and good size for four people and thanks to our cabin steward was nice and clean.
Ship tip
Definitely hang out on the lido during departures from the ports because DJ Spike never failed especially when it happens to rain. It rained on our last port day about and hour before we left and it and good party time with all the songs about rain.
I went Grand Cayman on my very first cruise (with Carnival) and I it was just ok and the same still all these years later. I wasn’t all that impressed still.
