Review summary

This was my first cruise experience and it was not amazing. I would do it again but will probably look for a none carnival ship to see if things are a little more organized getting on and off the boat as well as if they are a little more geared towards adults. Carnival seemed to be more geared towards entertaining the children.

Embarkation

If I could give it 0 stars I would.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
the food was good and the service in the main dining was excellent but the other food areas were always understaffed and I think I only had 3 people try to bring me drinks the entire week in the shows or anywhere else on the ship other than main dining.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We played bingo and enjoyed time in the casino as well as using the on board games to play some dominoes. The pools were crowded and full of kids as were the jacuzii's.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
the onboard shows and bingo were fun and interesting. the performers were from a new cast and were pretty good.

Children's Programs

I don't have kids.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
all of the servers I interacted with were excellent except one of the bartenders in the red frog bar who did not serve my wife and sister in law who are Hispanic. There were also not enough servers anywhere other than the main dining hall.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
no complaints about cleanliness and my only complaint about the ships design was there were areas where you could not get through without going up or down a floor.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
the cabin was as I expected. the bed was not great but I was not surprised by that.

Ship tip

embarkation and disembarkation were very disorgainzed at all the stops except for exiting the ship.

Ports of call

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
not organized by carnival but we did a tour around the island. it was interesting but not great. I would just have gone to the beach next time.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
again not orgainzed by carnival but we were able to go atving which was fun and get a tour and go to the beach for about 40% of what the carnival version of that trip cost.

Belize City, Belize

4 out of 5
we went cave tubing which was fun and interesting. again booked on our own in port and it was much cheaper. also locals ran and owned the company. we were ahead of the carnival excursion so we had a less crowded experience.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
the beaches were underwhelming but overall it was a nice stop we had a great tour guide. He took us to a local market for tacos, the ruins and a city tour as well as some interesting local stops and a couple of beaches.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
it went pretty well however they have an escalator and elevator that are quite a bottleneck. this was a very poor design and caused about a 15 minute delay to get off the boat.

I can understand that embarkation on this ship was extremely frustrating. I don’t understand why people would decide to never use this cruise line again. Especially when it was your 1st cruise and it was spring break and you enjoyed it once you got onboard.

It was Spring Break! Of course it was overrun with kids. Next time, try January or February or May. Lower prices, way less rugrats.
