Review summary

I have been on over 10 cruises and this was the worst I have experienced. I will cruise again but this was probably our last cruise on Carnival, and we have sailed on Carnival over 6 times. There was nothing special about this cruise nor Carnival.

Onboard Activities

My son loves basketball and they shutdown the court for multiple hours everyday. The casino was extremely smokey with poor ventilation; no area for non-smokers. The Lido deck was shutdown the last day to prepare for a celebrity cruise the next week; this was not fair for us because we lost a day's access to the pool, restaurants and activities.

Stage shows were below average. There was no show on Saturday because of prep for the celebrity cruise for the next week. At least two nights were dedicated to audience members participation.

Ship tip

Understand that the TV in the room has no sports channels. The only place to watch sports is in the Casino which has poor ventilation thus extremely smokey. I missed the NCAA final 4 because I could not bare the smoke in the Casino.

Unorganized and took way too long. Lacked clear communications. Elevators tied up due to prep for celebrity cruise the next cruise.

I agree somewhat. We were on the Magic in September and I was disappointed in our dining staff. There were three and we gave them each a $20 tip around the second day hoping for a great experience. Though happy to get the money, it was down hill afterwards. One of them was snooty and aloof with us most of the week. The other one gave me a dirty look when I asked to try an extra dessert, which has always been more than fine on previous cruises. The other waiter we hardly saw after he appeared briefly for his $20. It was the 8pm slot but we should have been treated better. This experience at dinner left a negative, even hurt feeling in me regarding the entire cruise. I was happy when we got off the ship onto an island. I will never pre-tip the dining staff again! We had a nice time on Splendor and Conquest but, we are booked with Royal Caribbean this year.

On shipmate it doesn’t always show previous cruises. We have been on 15 Carnival cruises but it only shows one in my profile and 3 reviews. I only started using ship mate about 3 years ago. We are looking forward to our cruise on the Magic. Our Carnival PVP says it is her favorite ship.

So “nothing outstanding” is y u have decided to leave carnival. But ur room was “as expected”. This seems more like a reviewer better suited for royal caribbean 🤔
