Review summary

Overall this was a very enjoyable cruise. Good ports and large selection of excursions. Food and wait service were our best to date. Would recommend to others.

Embarkation

Purchased Faster To The Fun excursion so were treated like VIP's

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Ate breakfast and lunch on Lido Deck (large selection - well prepared). Dinner in Northern Lights dining room (Excellent selection food top notch). Serving staff were the best we have had to date.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Art seminar on Thomas Kincaid (enjoyed and learned a lot). Craft event (simple Valetine card). Jewelry seminar on diamond grading and selection very informative.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
All the Main Stage shows we attended were all well done. Musicians throughout the cruise were excellent (loved the Violin group)

Children's Programs

No children - all grown up.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The wait staff in the MDR were amazing. Only saw the room steward once, but did his job well. Had major problem getting someone knowledgeable to assist in getting 92 year old in a wheel chair off of the ship. Almost missed excursion as they kept giving us the run around to different elevators.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Loved the ship. Laid out well and very clean. Wayfinding signage is almost non-existant. Need to study your deck plans

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Handicap room so larger than standard room. Well laid out and furnished. Plenty of storage space for clothes (could use more hangers)

Ship tip

If it is raining use hallway on level 4 starboard to get from front to back of ship.

Ports of call

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

Port is beautiful, small garden with waterfall right after you get off the ship. Did the Museum (home converted to museum), Fort San Filipie (small fort - lot of history), and Rum Factory (expected to see how rum was made. Saw a video about the founder and were offered to taste 8 different rums) excursion. Highlight of the excursion was lunch. Lunch was at the home and botanical gardens of a local artist. Impressive gardens, beautiful paintings and a good lunch.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Did not take an excursion. Shopped at the Mall on the docks then caught a cab ($4 per person each way) to shop downtown.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Excursion to Rain Forest and Fort. Could not get to the top of the rain forest as road was still not opened from hurricane. Waterfalls and views from tower were beautiful. Fort was impressive. Got dropped off downtown for shopping and walked back to ship. Overall very nice.

Grand Turk Island

Did not take any excursion due to wheel chair limitation of Mother-in-Law. Shopped in duty free shops (nice selection of shops including Ron Johns) Took pictures of the Friendship capsule and walked short distance to beach. Lot of rocks where we were. Wife said water was too cold.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Getting off was very smooth. Don't know if it was because of the Faster To The Fun excursion, but no problem with Customs line moved fast and smooth.
