Review summary

I've sailed with Carnival, and many other lines, for several years and they just keep getting worse. If only we had the days back when cruising was truly something special. I realize that Carnival want to keep costs in check and ticket prices low in order to cater to the masses, but they've taken that approach too far. Sorry Carnival, we've had some good times in past but I doubt that we will cross paths again after this cruise. The food has become mediocre at best, with the absolute lowest quality of meats being served. I have to wonder if the steaks came off a cow or a camel. The drinks seemed like they were watered down even more than usual. The entertainment was amateurish with the exception of a couple of the comics. The cruise director and "Fun Team" - not so fun. The ports of call, albeit this is our opinion, were uninspiring. Carnival need to up their game on all of these, but what has left the worst impression on us was the service. I can excuse the above items - after all, you get what you pay for - but the quality of the crew and related service was inexcusable. One of our dining room waiters seemed completely disinterested in her job, was slow, and not at all personable. The bar waiters on deck were pretty much the same, regardless of how much "additional gratuity" was extended. My one interaction with back office staff, pre-cruise, was somewhat rude and argumentative. Worst of all were the bartenders, and I won't mince words here, that were just plain ignorant. Both my wife and I had similar experiences in having bartenders that were lazy, indifferent to our existence, lacking all social skills, and completely devoid of any manners whatsoever. How hard is it to train your staff to acknowledge your guests, use such common manners as "thank you" or "your welcome", and not make the guest feel like they're imposing on them (let alone make them feel appreciated). This kind of guest experience is what will keep us from booking Carnival in the future. The awful service can't be blamed on keeping operating costs down but only can be attributed to poor management. As you can see, there was very little that we liked about this experience, but I can say there were a couple individuals that exemplified what cruise service should be. One of our dining room waiters can be commended as well as our cabin stewards. They were the only shining lights in an otherwise, waste of money. Many factors went into deciding on this cruise and "value" was certainly among them. To do it again, I would far rather spend a few hundred dollars more, try another line, and hope that we would come back with a positive impression. My advice would be to steer clear of this cruise, and maybe Carnival in general.

Wow babblespeak talk about jumping on the bandwagon you said no more carnival for you but after checking your profile it shows you’re going on December 2, 2018 on the carnival magic really🤥

Wow I know I'm going to enjoy. It's what you make of it

It’s probably your view of things that is getting worse and not Carnival. As you stay away from Carnival, remember that many more are flocking to Carnival and the fun continues.

I have over 30 cruises mostly with carnival and 3 more booked on carnival this winter. From my experience what Dave is saying is true. but I feel the same could be said about most of the other cruise lines.Bigger ships more people less service.

I’m extremely surprised with your feedback. I’ve done 11 cruises with Carnival and previously 2 on other cruise lines. I’ve experienced nothing but the opposite of your feedback. Good luck cruising in the future, but I say it’s all also in the attitude in how we approach things. Again good luck 👍🏼

I will say this is mostly why we quit going on Carnival. We are going on Carnival to go back to Turks and to experience HMC. We really like RC. Trying NCL for the first time in years next month.

For a person that is very critical of Carnival Cruise Lines . I think you are full of bull. Looking at your profile you have 0 cruises listed for the past or for the future. You would think somebody with your experience would know how to do this as well. I hope you find happiness somewhere in your life.

After carefully reading your review I realize the answer to all your cruising problems staring you in the face it’s obvious cruising isn’t for you 🤯

We were on the Magic and had a wonderful time. Tge bartenders, staff and food were great and never experienced what you did. 17 cruises with Carnival and we have never been disappointed. Sorry that you didn't enjoy your cruise as much as we did. Good luck with your new cruiseline.

@carnnival163, Wow, that great. What made you miss the cruise?

We have cruised Carnival 7 times in the past and have a btb coming up in January and have never had any issues with carnival, in fact the 1 time we missed our cruise carnival was great, they flew us to the first port of call, set us up at a bed and breakfast right on the beach, all paid for by Carnival and sent myself, my wife and our son each a $500 check to pay for our food and transportation while we waited for the ship to arrive. So I’m very happy with my experiences with Carnival.🛳🌴😎

We just sailed on the Allure after being big carnival fans, and I’m with you Dave. We will book no more Carnival cruises. There are simply too many better experiences out there for just a few hundred dollars more.

Wow Dave I’m sorry that your vacation was not what it was expected to be. I’m surprised because I have so far never had a bad encounter with carnival, in fact I’m going on the Magic in January smh.
