Highly recommend this large ship. This was cruise #8 on Carnival, really do love them. Have only cruised one other time which was on Royal Caribbean which was fine but we've become used to Carnival and the way it works-- shows, dining etc. Not sure I'd want to risk being disappointed cruising elsewhere. Really think you get your " bang for your buck ".
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We had Faster to the Fun. (Fttf) We were on board and in our cabin by 11 am.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
I know many people complain about the food and how few choices there are. I personally didn't feel that to be true. Always several options that satisfied me, and quality was very good. Even the buffets were adequate the few times we ate there. Didn't try any specialty restaurants except the Italian at lunch which was free. It was very good.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We watched so many activities by the main pool--hairy man contest, ice carving, scavenger hunt etc
We enjoy sitting reading and swimming in the pool. People watching is always fun. So many types of people and their quirks, makes the world go round! Lol
We also purchased the spa package which was a special purchase price on day one. Never did before but it was GREAT, well worth the money if your body needs some TLC. The thallosotherapy pool was fantastic for my arthritis as were the heated stone beds.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We went to most of the PG comedy shows, sing along shows, music and trivia games. So much fun.88 Keys in the main therapy was good.
Children's Programs
No kids traveling
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Everyone was attentive, no complaints at all . Noervi, our Room steward made sure we had ice cubes every evening just as we asked for. He gave us his business card and said to contact him whenever we needed something. Never did but it was nice to know we could if we needed to.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Every area we went they were cleaning, painting etc. No complaints at all.
Don't really care too much about decor and design but it seemed calm and peaceful.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We had 2 twin beds as we asked for. (mom and daughter traveling together) cabin is not huge but certainly adequate. Cruising for us does not mean spending our time in the cabin. If we had a balcony, which we have had before and it is nice, I feel obliged to be in the room more to get my monies worth from it. Just my opinion.
Ship tip
The ship is huge, carries about 4500 passengers. While I never felt squished, pack your patience. All those people are doing many of the same things you're doing, including standing in line for dinner etc.
I'm mostly calm so not a lot bothers me. Just enjoy yourself.
Any day at Sea is better then a day at work.
Because we had Fttf, we exercised our option to be some of the first ones off. We had to be in the theatre by 6:30 am, were off by 7:00 and in the taxi by 7:15. Easy peasey. Very nice Port and very organized.
"Bang for the buck" is obviously important to many cruisers. As long as you are happy, stay with what pleases you. Nothing wrong with feeling welcome, comfortable, and satisfied.
