All in all for a first cruise it was good, I will look for a better ship that has more relaxing adult only areas to avoid the obnoxious kids in the small pools.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Quicker than expected, very efficient
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food was delicious right down to the buffet options. Nickel and dimed to death with drinks, coffees and other things though.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Lot's to do on the ship even though we didn't try them all, did a few things on the ship and experienced more on the excursions.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The entertainment available was very good, comedians, piano bar and bands.
Children's Programs
Didn't bring kids
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Very friendly
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship was large and newer however the aft decks always seemed to smell like a sewage plant and deck 5 where some of the night life was and a great bar, Alchemy is located wreaked of cigarettes. That cigarette smell traveled to the upper decks. Seriously either don't allow smoking or buy filtration systems for the casino or open the doors. That made it unbearable to enjoy that deck, lastly why can't you have a real adults only area. Adults can't enjoy the two undersized pools because of unsupervised kids of all ages that lacked manners and the 21 and up deck has kids running through it to get to the water slide. Fix this please
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin was roomy for a cabin, clean, bathroom was functional and the water pressure great. Two full beds put together for a king is normal but they didn't line up in height exactly.
Ship tip
The pools are too small and overcrowded and overrun by kids as are all the whirlpools. You don't have a 21 and over pool but you do have 2 crowded whirlpools.
Disembark was not as efficient, very crowded where everyone pushed and shoved as they got off of and exited the elevators in various locations to cut the lines. Very crowded, not safe and unorganized, should've opened the entertainment room and formed the lines in there to avoid the crowding at the elevators.
I cruised Valor in July. 1200 kids on board that week. In all honesty we never really felt bothered by anyone's kid mainly because we stayed in areas they weren't around. Had a GREAT time.
I have no issue with kids sailing. Most of the folk on the ships are familiesbwuth children. I sail with a 10 year old, but she stays with us or attends Camp Ocean. I must say that I sailed the Magic the last week of August into Labor Day and their weren't a lot of kids on board. There are cruise lines that cater to mostly adults. That may be better suited for you in the future.
If you book your cruises during the school year (remember Christmas/ spring break) you'll have far fewer issues with kids. That's why we book ours at that time. 🤗
