Review summary
Amazing ports. Simply beautiful! The cruise director was awesome - very engaging. However, the ship and crew left much to be desired with the lack of service. The ship wasn't as clean as we'd experienced in the past. You can write your name in the dust collecting on the shelves holding extra toilet paper in each bathroom stall. Literally-every single one I visited. Dirty plates/glasses seemed to be left in hallways for longer periods of time.
We paid an elevated rate to stay in a spa level room. The spa amenities were wonderful and we would do that again. However, the room steward we had was absent for nearly the first three days of the cruise. We didn't meet him until after complaining. He told us it was because he had 2-floors of rooms to attend to. While I understand that is a lot to handle, quite frankly that was not our problem. We saved to pay for our vacation for months and shouldn't have had a lesser experience because our room steward was "busy." We found the bar tenders to operate on one speed - slow. They'll get to you when they get to you. Some were friendlier than others. Over all, the cruise was good. But, having been on many other Carnival ships as well as other cruise liners before, we found the Magic to be lacking in many ways.
