Good Hope Estate was a good excursion. If you have children I recommend the full experience.

did you go when the kids were out from holiday vacations

I agree with DWB. Your original post was worded as if you had small kids running loose. I totally agree with YOU, that yes, older teenagers need their fredom. As long as they have been raised to behave and use manors. I also agree with you about the large amounts of annoying drunk so called adults.

I always see well behaved young people, most often it's drunk adults that are the safety issue & problem on ships.

Actually I wasn't baiting people at all, I honestly didn't expect anyone to jump down my throat & really don't care what people think. We have been on many cruises & can say with all certainty that I know we are in the majority. There are never teenagers sitting around with their parents unless it's a meal or maybe for the shows. Also I've never run into these so called "brats" on the ship.

You didn't say your kids are old enough to drive in your original post. I consider the way you wrote your first post baiting people. Any child under 13 needs supervised to a degree. Ships can be dangerous places.

I have early teens and I let them do their thing on the ship. They were raised to be polite and respectful no matter where they are. Some people are simply intolerant of others. I could complain about all the grumpy old people and drunk twenty somethings but hey, it's all part of being on a cruise. You get all types.

lol, I'm not the one with the problem

On more thing, Carnival will let kids as young as 9 sign themselves in & out of the kids club

My oldest son travelled to Germany to live for 1/2 of grade 11 @ 15 years old & completed school there on his own. Maybe my kids are more mature then yours. They won't even use the elevators on the ship, because they don't want to hold it up for adults, they join dance classes, poker tourneys, learn how to make towel animals. I am disabled & cannot keep up to them, so while I relax they enjoy

Well since we live in a city of over 1 million strangers & they can drive themselves around, I can trust them on a ship. I don't know what kind of teenagers you raised, but my boys are very good kids. They do check in with us at meals & of course on the days we get off the ship they stay with us. They don't piss around near the edge of the boat so I'm not worried about them falling in.

Sounds to me likes it just n excuse to not watch your kids. In this day and age how can a concerned parent just let their kids go into harms way???? What if they fall overboard no way I could have a good time knowing a curious normal teenager Has got free reign. What happened to a family vacation where you stay with your family??? This is like going to a strange town of 5000 folks you don't know

My kids are teenagers, it is not irresponsible for us to let me do there own thing own a Cruise Ship. As I stated our youngest stays with us, but my teenagers are responsible enough to hang out on a cruise ship.

Just because they're on vacation isn't a reason to let them run around unsupervised. It's disrespectful to others and dangerous for them. People are mean and there's no cruise ship bubble to keep them safe when running around unsupervised.

We are one of those families that brings 4 Children with us & Yes we let them all run around unsupervised (except the youngest), people should expect that on Carnival because it's affordable to take families on. Our kids are also on Vacation & there to have fun. This year we are going 2 weeks after Easter, it's Spring Break for us, but I don't know if the US kids are our that week.

We are taking the Estate excursion/Dunns River combo. We are travelling with older children and my parents - so we will have three generations participating. We appreciate the overall value of Carnival and NCL - but are hesitant to go during school breaks. We have tried the week before and the week after most schools go on break - and have still had the same issue with oodles of children. It doesn't really bother us much. There are plenty of opportunities to find solace.Carnival seems to do a far better job of enforcement in the serenity deck area than NCL.
