what a disappointment

Sail Date: May 01, 2011

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

regardless whether Lido or dining room, food was luke warm; poor selection of food choices; limited fruit and vegetables; only pizza available for odd hours; desserts presented well, but tasteless [other than the chocolate feast].

Pros: cleanliness of ship, friendliness of staff

Cons: food always luke warm; poor food selection; no covered pool or hot tub

Recommends Carnival Magic? No.

Food and Dining
food always luke warm; poor selection of choices; limited choice of fruits and vegetables; only pizza available for odd hours
we actually walked out of several shows due to the lack of quality... the final night was the exception - what a show! and what a response! Being the Inaugural cruise, we were expecting more excitement, fan fare - not a token gift
Ship Quality
layout excellent, but poor decorating in caribbean bar [decorated in British pub colors!]; main area decorated with 'green eyes' [not inviting - and certainly not in ocean colors!]
Cabin / Stateroom
well done! bathroom and shower a big plus! great staff!
Service and Staff
our luggage did not arrive for 5 days! the staff went out of their way to help us [by giving us personal items, t-shirt, discount for shop purchases, and actually doing our laundry as we had only what we wore!]
Children's Programs
children were kept busy, and appeared to be happy!
Messina, Sicily
Taormina is a 'must do' - the Greek Theatre was incredible - and the leader very articulate
Don't Miss: The Greek Theater and Taormina
Naples, Italy
trains were on strike, staff didn't know or care, thus we were forced to hire a private taxi. Naples drivers are wild, very disconcerting - a definate 'do not do'
Don't Miss: Sorrento is a 'must do'
Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
We did the Easy Rome; had a great driver who made sure both sides of the bus had adequate time for pictures...
Don't Miss: St Peter's Square
Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy
We did the Cinque Terre - which has been upgraded since we were here 2 years ago...
Don't Miss: Cinque Terre
