Great ship if you don't like food or service! Avoid like the plague if you have taste buds and speak English.

Smooth process to get on and off the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Food grew worse by the day. In the end, the dining hall had gone from serving completely raw steak (on one side) to dehydrated chicken. It took an hour to receive an appetizer! Water cups were not refilled during the two hours it took to receive dinner. I was laughed at when I asked what drinks were available without a drink package and then served, "diet water". Everything was focused on cost-cutting, despite the customer experience impact. "Buffet" was only open for limited meal time hours, and served limited leftover food that spoiled by the end of the cruise. I think it was the cheese in the omelet that tasted so foul. The sausage was reused for multiple days and lost its flavor. No customization of pizza toppings or dinner ingredients. The customer was denied adding mushrooms to a pepperoni pizza or removing mushrooms from chicken alfredo in the dining hall. The pasta bar did not allow for orders to be placed without being seated and had very long wait times. I have no idea what the lasagna was made out of; consisted of two slabs of meat, zucchini a noodle, and some cheese. Tasted horrible! Many tables had this sorry excuse for food left barely touched.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Not much for adults to do. There was never more than one activity at a time and if you did not want to do that, you wandered around the ship. Last day had 5 hours of trivia, back to back. Cushions on sunchairs very hard and uncomfortable.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Comedy shows were not something I would have paid to see. I did chuckle a few times, but would not recommend.

Children's Programs

2 out of 5
The swimming pool was out of order for four of the six days! Teenagers were bored. Teen room staff decided that everyone was going to play basketball and did not pay attention to uneven number of people. Pool table had broken cues and all balls rolled to one side when not in choppy water.

Service and Staff

Members of the crew said that they did not want to be there and this showed in their performance. I was laughed at when I asked what drinks were available without a drink package and then served, "diet water". Everything was focused on cost-cutting, despite the customer experience impact. The customer was denied adding mushrooms to a pepperoni pizza or removing mushrooms from chicken alfredo in the dining hall. The pasta bar did not allow for orders to be placed without being seated and had very long wait times. At breakfast, I attempted to get water and was run over by a guy with a cart of coffee cups! He ran right in front of me and said excuse me as he barreled by! The crew did not move when confronting customers, even when their hands were empty. I move to the side when they are carrying things. When asked questions, members of the crew just gave blank stares or pointed to others. I don't think English was their third language! At the "help desk", the crew made little attempts at meeting customer needs. The customer had an email showing shipboard credit that was not applied. The crew refused to add credit, even after being shown an email, simply said no, can't do that! Nickel and dime for everything. Paid chat service did not work and the app had to constantly be closed and reopened, or the network reconnected. Paid Wifi did not work any better. Meals in the dining hall cost $23!!! By the end of the cruise, I would not have trusted the crew to make a bowl of cereal!

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
The Lemon No Sa (Luminosa) should be removed from Carnival ships and the crew sent packing. The near-porn pictures throughout the hallways and rooms do not lend themselves to a non-pedo, family experience. Very limited room service options and the QR code in the room did not work. Even members of the crew said that the copy-paste from one side of the ship to the other makes it very difficult to navigate. No one cares about the stupid fat statue clogging the deck. The ship shows signs of wear and tear with the frame of the lighting peeling and held together with scotch tape and continual toilet stoppages. The teen room door had to be removed with an angle grinder after locking more than ten people in a room for two hours! Multiple elevators were almost always out of order. The swimming pool was out of order for four of the six days! All icemakers were broken the entire trip.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The room was a very good size, though the bed was never sowed away from the first day. The bed was painfully hard and aided by a mattress cover upon request. Some nights I slept better than others.

Ship tip

Went on the Best of Juneau; Mendenhall Glacier, Whale Watching and Salmon Bake excursion through Americanforcestravel.com. All transportation personnel were really friendly and knowledgeable. Must have the salmon chowder, excellent! Salmon was a little dried out.
