Review summary

Overall, this is an excellent cruise. I would highly recommend to do the excursions sponsered by Carnival. All our excursions were amazing! The ship is clean, the food was wonderful, the personnel were friendly, and the activities were fun! This is a good cruise for families.

Embarkation

There was a hiccup with the wifi that made it difficult to embark. We had to wait longer than usual. However, there were plenty of seats in the waiting area. Also, when the issue was resolved, they called the passengers in an orderly fashion and we boarded.

The spa was heavenly. We played mini golf several times and had fun. We also really enjoyed all the trivia and games.

Amazing! I would highly recommend Vintage Pop and Flick. My husband really enjoyed America Rocks! The singers were awesome! They sang Whitney Houston songs and Adele songs! Don't skip the shows!

Service and Staff

All the personnel on board were friendly, helpful, and kind.

Ship Quality

We enjoyed exploring the ship. I do not recall and area that was not well-maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a cabin with a view. It fit our needs well. There was a surpising amount of storage for a cabin.

Ship tip

Make sure to see all of the shows and book excursions through Carnival. All our excursions were excellent!

Juneau, Alaska

In Juneau, we visited a salmon hatchery and went salmon fishing. Our tour guide was named Derek. He was so friendly and shold work for the tourism board of Alaska. His love of Alaska was infectious. First he took us to the hatchery. On the way he pointed out sites and told us about Alaska. At the hatchery, he taught us about the process and we visited a little on site museum. The musuem had a touch tank. Later, he took us fishing. He was also very patient with my son.

Skagway, Alaska

In Skagway, we took the train ride. It was beautiful! We saw two bears. They told us it was rare to see two bears on the train ride. They gave us a booklet of information about Alaska and the train that was very informative. As you ride, a speaker tells you about the history of the train and Alaska. The vistas are gorgeous. Afterwards, we rode a bus to a gold panning business. Our bus driver, Ryan, was so sweet and kind. At the gold panning business, they taught us how to pan for gold. That was a blast! Combine, we found about $50 worth of gold. We preserved our gold in a Christmas ornament keepsake.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

5 out of 5
Oh My! This one was my favorite! We took a smaller boat and explored the Tracy Arm Fjord. If you can only do one excursion, DO THIS ONE! When are you going to have another chance to see glaciers up close! We went during pup season. We saw a lot of seal mamas who were pregnant or with their newborn babies. We saw cascades, ice bergs, bergy bites, waterfalls, whales. You will not regret this!

Ketchikan, Alaska

In Ketchikan, we went to the lumberjack show. It was so funny and entertaining. The hostess, Sweetie Pie, does an amazing job. She explains the lumberjack events and adds humor. The lumberjacks are professional atheltes. However, they play along and add humor too. I deeply regret not buying the Lumberjack Calendar. The show was much more entertaining than I thought it was going to be! A++++++ The axe throwing activity afterwards was well done. You are put into a small group. It is very safe. A professional axe thrower explains how to throw and axe and then people take turns. My husband won the tournament in our little group, but then I challenged him, and beat him. Hahahahahaha

Disembarkation

It was almost too easy. I would recommend riding in a taxi on the way back to your hotel or airport.
