Review summary

I will not go into details about flight cancellations, etc that we experienced, however I will say that the Carnival rep. we had on the phone along with our Cheap Cruises rep. was not helpful at all.  We were in full panic mode and she kept putting us on hold while we had to listen to Carnival's music & Fun Times advertising!

Other than missing the embarkation port as well as the first full day, it was....nice. The ship's crew were really wonderful and very helpful.

Had to call housekeeping to return and clean a few things the first day, but after that, all was fine. The Liberty is getting some age on her and it's probably time for an update....orange and pink is pretty old. Oh, and if you want privacy on your balcony, don't book spa deck!

Ship tip

The best tip we received was that the taxis in port have a regulated rate (you can negotiate a little) and they are reputable. Once you leave the port area, you are on your own!

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

totally missed it!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

missed that one too, except for getting on the ship!

Bridgetown, Barbados

The island tour was great! You get to see a majority of the island with great views and even taste the sugar cane if you ask your driver!

Castries, St. Lucia

It is awful that you can't spend a relaxing day at the beach because the natives are constantly approaching to sell you something. Once I say "no", I'm not changing my mind!

Basseterre, St. Kitts

If you're looking for shopping, this port has it all! The best price on Cuban cigars is the very first smoke shop you come to. The best margaritas EVER are at the little hut right before going back to the ship. It's almost hidden, but worth the effort to find......

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Had been to St. Maarten before and St. Martin....just don't like the island.

Always always book thru carnival I use the same rep all the time any any questions I have or if I have a problem even if I'm on board he will do his best to take care of it.but if you book with a travel agent the carnival reps can't touch it or even see your booking

We always fly in a day or 2 before ship sails to avoid late flights and panic

Use Carnival for all of it!! May cost a little more but they are responsible !! We've never in 12 Carnival cruises had a problem! Had a flight cancel once and called, they handled it!! Peace of mind!

If you didn't book directly with Carnival, they have absolutely no obligation to get you where you need to be. If I understand you booked with Cheap Cruises.... What about your air? If you did that alone, then you are totally to blame. A travel agent would have made your experience more favourable !! Just sayin'
