Review summary

We used to love Carnival when we were younger with teens, but as they left the nest we tried all the other reasonably priced cruise lines. The Jan 5 Carnival Liberty cruise was the first Carnival cruise in 15 years and even though we are now seniors, it remained a fun ship. Times have changed and Carnival keeps up with current entertainment trends like giant screen TV at the pool and smaller entertainment opportunities like a comedy club instead of a big musical production every night in the theater. The one thing we liked was the still high quality of the food in the main dining rooms and the extensive buffet opportunities during the day. Some other lines have lowered food quality in the main dining rooms to nudge you into the high priced specialy restaurants. We did try the Diamonds Steak House, though, and found it really worth the extra cost. Service from cabin stewards to dining servers were most friendly and helpful. Wife and I are not the type of customers looking for fault and no faults jumped out at us. I highly recommend Carnival's Liberty.

Ship tip

The Chocolate Melting Cake served with two scoops of vanilla (Mickey Mouse Style) is addictive. Don't wait for the last night to try it.
