Review summary

Legend is an older ship that is scheduled for extended dry dock in 2024. It is laid out well. Our Cruise Director CAM is the best I have seen in my 60 cruises. Been on this ship 5 times in 15 months. Close to home port. The 4 big shows will blow you away. Carnival gets a bad rap, but the food was excellent. The 700 plus kids on board presented not problems. Bingo and Lets Make a Deal fun. Half Moon private island/beach is beautiful. Plenty of options for entertainment such as piano bar which was fun.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
First group on. Took less than 45 minutes. Very smooth if the facial recognition scanners are working,

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Always ate in dinning room except for Lido buffet for lunch. Service was good and the food excellent. Carnival gets a bum rap on the food. I have been on many different lines and Carnival food is outstanding. Only specialty restaurant is steak house. That too is very good. If you go first or second night, you get a free bottle of house red or white or half price on others,

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were nice. Like some ships, hot tubs not very hot and the jets disconnected.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Four big dancing and singing shows. Do not miss any of them. Get there early for best seats. All wonderful. Piano Bar was great fun. Bingo and Lets Make A deal fun as well

Children's Programs

No kids on board. But there were over 700 kids. They were well behaved. Did not see a single tantrum, The kid programs are excellent from speaking to some parents.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All staff were very friendly. Called you buy name if they knew it. They seemed to enjoy their work.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Kept clean. Layout of ship is one of the big pluses.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Balcony cabin. Typical one finds on most ships. Everything worked. Cabin steward served as well.

Ship tip

Enjoy the smaller size of the Carnival Legend. To have fun you must be fun. Go with the flow. Don't let little things bother you.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Been there many times so I usually to not get off. Wife and I wanted to visit the zoo/gardens, but were closed on our port day, Wednesday. Shopping can be a hassle as sales people are aggressive to get you into store. Ship offers many tours. Some sell out. I do not recommend non ship tours. Beach within walking distance has no real facilities and you have to be very careful as you would on most islands.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
One of the best beaches I have seen. Clean, find sand. Tender ride in takes 10 minutes. If you want off early in morning, you may have to wait to board tender.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

3 out of 5
OK if you have kids and go on a tour. Otherwise shopping within steps of ship. Only there for the morning.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy. Parking in Baltimore is within yards of terminal.
