Review summary

The cruise was good. Not elegant or classy by any means. If you want that, go to Royal Caribbean or another line. Carnival is a party. Lots to do and loud. Our teenagers loved it ! We went as a family, so we chose Carnival. The other passengers were not our usual type of company. For our anniversary we will choose a more adult and elegant boat.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
A bit hectic but fine considering

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was unexpectedly good and above expectations. The dining room offered great variety and tastes. Small portions compared to mainland restaurants, but still food abounds on the ship ! The buffets were generally good, as well. Lines were sometimes an issue.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The comedy club and shows were great. We did not expect that these would be available. The main shows were good, too. Jim in the piano bar was great fun. The electric violin trio was just great !

Entertainment

4 out of 5
As above. The kids loved the djs and pool parties. Our sons enjoyed the teen club.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
As above

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Could use more bartenders on the boat. Sometimes the wait was crazy long ! Many great staff. Alfred in the dining room. Jonathan, our steward, was excellent.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Older boat. At 20 years old, there are signs of age.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Nice room. Cruise size !!!

Ship tip

Beware of the shops on board. Lots of deceptive advertising, such as “lowest price of the cruise,” ect. The next day, they will run another sale saying the same thing. Questionable markup to markdown ? I liked Diego in the shops a lot. He was very helpful and honest with watches.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

Nassau, Bahamas

We went to Atlantis for the day. Expensive water park. Glad we tried it. We always wanted to go there. But, not as great as advertised.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
Great beach. Clear and clean water. The cruise lunch on the island was a 5/10. Not enough cups, ice, good food, seating, ect. We swam with the stingrays ! Just great !!!

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

3 out of 5
Poor shopping. Stay on the boat. It is a fuel, garbage and reload stop for the ship.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Rough. A lot of waiting. The ship flagged me for customs. The process was handled poorly, since the employees often have a hard time communicating especially with masks on.

Thanks for sharing! We overall enjoyed the Legend and it's strange decor. We thought the food was lacking and our bathroom smelled terrible! Entertainment was WONDERFUL Memorial Day week! I'm sorry you had a bad experience!

Thanks for sharing.. I've been on rccl , celebrity, ncl and carnival. They all have there pluses and minuses. Sailing during the summer months you will run into families, and a younger crowd, on most cruise lines. If you want elegant sail Cunard, like food Celebrity, great entertainment RCCL. If you are looking for a laidback casual cruise Carnival. I'm booked on the Legend in October. Again thanks for you review.

Glad you enjoyed! The summer and destination would account for a lot of kids. If you go to New England or Bermuda in th fall, different crowd and atmosphere. Same with RCCL.

The Legend, older but still classic + works for quick/get away No fills trips as I can drive to Baltimore…. But, FL is my key port with larger/newer ships to escape PA winters! The new CELEBRATION will be an awesome time this winter!!! 🚢

We had Alfred, too, July 3-10 in the mdr. He was great and lots of fun but so super busy since they were short-staffed.
