Review summary

Carnival Legend: We had a room with a balcony. The room size was perfect for 2 adults. Plenty of space, more then enough storage space with three big closets. The bathroom was also big - not something we have experienced on other ships. Beds were very comfortable - we slept well! Balcony: This is a must have. We enjoyed our balcony daily. There were two chairs and a small table. Great place to start the day and end the day.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Dining room food: 3 out of 7 dinners were excellent. Lobster, Prime Rib and the Chef's personal seafood creation were the best. We had the late dining time which worked best for us. Dining room is very nice. Variety: this was an area that needed improvement. There were a lot of the same foods throughout the day.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We were disappointed in the variety of the shows. 4 of the 7 nights was a comedian. 2 musical type shows.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our stateroom steward was the best. He cleaned our room twice a day and was very friendly. Always had a warm smile and kind words. We tipped him extra at the end of the trip. Remainder of the staff was excellent. Cruise director was a blast. We don't know how he could keep going and be so much fun.

Ship Quality

Ship needs updating. Decor was too gawdy for our taste. The theatre was beautiful and the decor of the ship did not carry into the theatre. Restrooms were hard to find. Felt like there was not enough space.

Cabin / Stateroom

7th floor balcony room. We are spoiled and will always have to have a balcony. Plenty of space in the room to move around, plenty of storage space with 3 big closets. Bathroom was plenty big enough. Beds were great - we slept well! Area of Improvement: Needs a clock!! Night light in the bathroom would be nice.

Ports of call

Belize City, Belize

We snorkled off the coast of Belize. Our ship was anchored in the ocean about 10 miles from shore. Our excursion boat took us 20 minutes from the boat and stopped in the middle of the ocean. We jumped off the boat and started snorkeling. The excursion had 2 kayak' floating around us incase someone needed help. We saw amazing sites and fish. Lasted one hour. They then took us 10 minutes futher to a private island. Very very nice and enjoyed another hour their. The boat provided the best rum punch (2 parts rum and 1 part punch!) Also went to the port which was a waste of time. We did not venture outside the port as we were uncomfortable without going with a guide. Heard from other cruiseers that took toors of Belize and really enjoyed it.
Don't Miss: Snorkeling.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Wast of time: Cruise line excursion to the beach was a waste of $30 each. We could have caught a cab and gone to the same beach for less. I'm sure there are better excursions to take for this island - our missed opportunity.

Cozumel, Mexico

Caught a cab and went to Paradise Beach. Highly recommend it. Very reasonably priced for beach chairs, umbrella, kayak, snorkeling and ocean toys. Very clean restrooms. It is about 20 minutes from port and worth the trip. The management walks around and introduces himself and spends time chatting with you.
Don't Miss: Paradise beach.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

We only did the Snuba exursion. This was an amazing time. Our group was small so the leader kept us out for an hour. Besides the typical things you might see, we saw a shark and stingray. The deepest you can go is 25 feet. You can also stay on top if you wish.
Don't Miss: Snuba

Pros: Room with a balcony was awesome; Fun meeting people on board and hearing all the interesting places they were from; Exursions were a blast

Cons: Entertainment was disappointing on the ship. Food was also a disappointment

Recommends Carnival Legend? No.
