Review summary

The ship is a fun ship. I felt comfortable with the security people walking around the ship. The ship was designed to be fun. The large water slide in the back of the ship is not just for kids. When you hit the first turn, you really start to accelerate through the slide. The deck plan was well thought out. You can really move around the ship quite easily. Areas of the ship were allocated for certain age groups. No matter what age group, this ship has it. There is a pool on the lido deck just for adults. There is a disco just for teens. There is camp carnival for all the kids. There is a pool area just for toddlers. There is an area just for topless bathing. This ship tries to cater to all types of people and I felt they pulled it off nicely.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had a wonderful waitress from Hungry. Her name is Zsuzsanna. She bent over backwards for us. She even did little things we did not ask for. She is a very well trained waitress. Very professional. You could tell she appreciated her job.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Our cruise was for eight nights. We had six nights of Excellent entertainment. First class. I especially liked the comic on board. He had the whole crowd laughing constantly. I did not like the singer Chris. They called him the voice. He sang tribute to Sammy Davis and Frank Sinatra. I like both singers, but I did not like the singer Chris.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
We were forntunate to come on this cruise without our three young children. I am going to rate the childrens programs excellent because of the response from people we talked with. We went to the childrens area for future considerations in regards to cruising with our children. They had all the new gadgets and toys. The Xbox 360, the flat screens, the game rooms, etc. Everything was well thought out.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Trevor the cruise director was top notch. The whole staff made you feel comfortable even in the worst situation. We had a fellow passenger jump overboard. He committed suicide. The boat seached for the passenger for 12 hours. We got an extra 12 hours to our cruise. The staff made you feel like they were doing everything in their power to rescue the man. They had to add activities to keep everyone busy for the extra time. They handled the situation with integrity and professionalism. We were quite surprised by the lengths and expense Carnival Cruise lines added to recitfy the situation. They went way above and beyond.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
At first glance the ship seemed overly busy looking. After the second day you can understand the concept the designer was trying to achieve. The theme is about legends. We found the design to be tacky but interesting.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a balcony stateroom. There was an excellent comic on board for a night show. He made jokes about the service in the staterooms. His jokes were very effective because what he said was so true. He joked about the fact there was someone living under our bed because we could leave our room for two seconds and be back to a spotless room. The bathroom was very comfortable. Bigger than the last ship I was on.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

3 out of 5
We rented an electric car which was fun. It is like a larger golf cart that seats four. If you want to go fast this is not the best choice. Maximum speed is 25 miles per hour. The electric car is great for getting around the city. Old San Juan is spread out and there is plenty to see. The small electic car can negotiate the narrow streets and can be parked almost anywhere. Most people we talked to did not like all the walking they had to do. We were happy with our choice to rent an electric call for $65.00 for 3 hours.
Don't Miss: This port is not as nice at St. Thomas. Once you have been to St. Thomas San Juan seems like wasted time.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

3 out of 5
This place is pretty. We had a good time at the beach. There is not much going on commercially. We would have liked to spend more time in St. Thomas.
Don't Miss: Taxi service is expensive but the cars take a beating on the steep hills.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Beautiful island with excelleent shopping opportunities. The beaches were excellent. You could chose Megans Bay or Coki Beach. If you like snorkeling try Coki Beach. We would have like to stay here longer. We will come back here in the future. The shopping was fun.
Don't Miss: Taxi service is expensive. We spent $160 for 1.5 hours travel time for 4 people

Pros: Fun atmosphere, quality of the ship, live band, night life, cabin service

Cons: Man jumped over board
