Review summary
I have been on the Pride and the Splendor in the past. Key word Past. I was very happy with my previous cruises on Carnival, However there must be new management since my last cruise because everything turned to Crap. Almost everything has changed to maximize profit for the cruise line and just get the passenger to and from their destination. So many subtle changes you don't really notice much. They take tons of digital (minimum cost to them) pictures of you everywhere and there is now NO discount if you buy a lot of pictures ($15.00) each. You now pay a $20 surcharge if you want the best food on the dinner menu, like Maine lobster or fillet mignon. The rest of the food is poor restaurant food at best. you get better food at Chili's or Applebee's. You have to pay for cheap wine like Barefoot Cabernet you can buy for 7 to 10 dollars depending where you buy is $6.75 per glass then they play a subtle game (during your meal you must sign a charge form for each drink and each one includes a 15% gratuity in the price, then there is a 2nd line where the normal tip is given that says "additional gratuity") that takes advantage of people who don't pay close attention or get a little tipsy and just write in a $$ amount where you normally do. So you can easily pay the tip twice. I used to be able to go get food to eat anytime. Now they only have a few things available like Pizza. The Entertainment was only OK on two of the four nights. There is no real dance floor available. When you dance you are actually dancing in the aisle and competing with the people who are walking thru the ship. It reminded me of the nightclubs that stop allowing dancing and put more tables on the dance floor to make more money, just drink. this trip was so boring. They also push high margin low quality drinks on you. They would come by and try to sell you a shot glass size mixed drink with a cute name that was mostly mix and very little alcohol for 8 or 9 dollars.. This Cruise line is now ALL about money, the experience is so bad. Every aspect of the cruise is now about profit and not the passenger. I felt like they had their hand in my pocket the entire cruise for everything.
