Review summary

THis was my first cruise and I was not impressive, though service on the ship was excellent, food all right, bed  and bathroom were very clean.

Catalina island is definetely worth to see.

Ensenada is total dissapointment - very dirty city, garbage everywhere, ugly looking buildings, no interesting architecture, no good points of interest, a lot of street beggers near the ship, very aggressive sale people, we did not feel safe on the streets. Our guide warned us to be cautious when buying silver and leather, both may not be real.

We had a lunch in small cafee, owner took adventure of us and served  the food we did not ordered, and food was like fast food from Taco Bell, not even fresh, when we tried to argue he pretended that he does not know English.... We would not recomend to visit this city  -  waste of time and money and not a tourist attraction. I do not understand why to make it tourist destination at all..... There is simply nothing to do and to see  there!

Ship experiences

Cabin / Stateroom

Very clean and neat cabin. Service people really tried to make it nice for us.

Ship tip

Do not ever go to Ensenada, you will be dissapointed.

fun is where you make it. a little homework before your cruise would help. true, Ensenada has it's low points, but there are some fun sights, and people watching is always fun. You don't have to stay in town, you can take excursions, and some are great. I've never gotten "fake" silver, and in fact, some of my favorite jewelry is from Mexico. You're on a moving, floating city with a couple thousand people who could give you great tips...talk to your fellow passengers! We've gotten the best tips on our many cruises from our fellow shipmates. Don't rate your cruise by one port! We've done this particular cruise 8 times, and it's been a different experience every time. It's what you make it! Happy Cruising!

ya. this had nothing to do with Carnival. just Ensenada. from what I could understand from this post because it was so hard to understand what was being written.

The first time I went to Ensenada I felt close to the way you do, but on my second trip there we drove ATV's to Labufadora blow hole and it was an amazing experience! The street tacos there alone were the best thing I've eaten! Going again on the Imagination on November 4th and taking my daughter to do the same excursion- can't wait!!!

It is not fair to down grade Carnival because you did not like the port.  When you booked the cruise didn't you look up the ports ?   You visited a poor city in a 3rd world country.  What did you think the port would be like ?
