It was an awesome cruise. Just a small complaint that this was a full ship and there were just a lot of people! Understandable since it was during the Thanksgiving break.

Review summary

A 6 day cruise with 3 port stops covers all aspects of cruising. Totally satisfied with the cruise trip.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
We chose the 1-1:30 boarding time. The portion for enbarkation onto the ship was very smooth but the passenger dropoff, rental car return and return to port was very very stressful. Miami port is not well organized. It was a stressful couple of hours. Best advice I can provide is to select an early boarding window.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent. No complaints whatsoever. Staff was very polite and extremely efficient.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Carnival Horizon had Backyard Cricket! Woohoo! It was a wonderful experience to play cricket aboard a moving ship. Also made use of the water slides, skyrides, zipline and the putt-putt golf.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The cruise director was awesome - very energetic and engaging. Stage shows were ok (song and dance shows).

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Kids had fun doing their own things.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every person with whom we interacted were very courteous and helpful

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very well maintained and lighted properly

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very clean and comfortable

Ship tip

Try and go on a non-holiday period.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

4 out of 5
Embarkation approach at port needs a lot of work. Very congested. No excursions.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Dunn's River Falls are a must-see.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
Visited Seven Mile Beach. Very picturesque and clean. However, there were a sea of people. 5 big ships were at port that day.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Couldn't spend too much time outside. Went to a close-by snorkeling spot. Crowded as well. Area was a bit rocky and the sea was not calm either.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth. Exiting Miami port was also not too bad.

Glad you enjoyed the cruise, but you have a lot to learn if you think 6 days covers all aspects of cruising.

Thanks for sharing. There is a website for the Cayman Island port schedule with a calendar showing which cruise ships are in port. Since it is a tender port, this helps deciding if it's worth getting off the ship. On our upcoming trip, there is only one other ship of about 2,000 passengers - 4,000 total on the day we are there. The next day, 5 ships are in port, 17,000 total. I wouldn't get off the ship that day.
