I enjoyed this 8-day cruise. I would definitely rebook.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Embarkation day was easy, however once inside the cruise terminal, there was nobody guiding you to the next point. They waited until you looked confused or had to ask, which way to go next.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The main dining food was mediocre at best. Most times not enough seasoning on the food. Portions were also small. The buffets were pretty good and drinks anywhere on the ship were great. I loved Bonsai Sushi, the food and ambience in that place was awesome. Guy's Burger Joint was pretty decent too.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The pools were nice and decks were clean, as the staff were on top of their jobs.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
I wish there was more energy in the performances on the main stage. The acts were beautifully put together, but the performers lacked the spunk I needed to really bring the performances alive. I didn't care if I went to a show or not because it was the same performers for every show. The Violinist Trio (forget their official title) were the best entertainment on the ship. I could listen to them all day. The comedians did an awesome job too and were actually funny.
Children's Programs
I didn't travel with kids
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Most service staff were great (at least the ones I encountered). Some staff were pretty curt when asking them a question and would keep repeating themselves when asked a question, that clearly wasn't being understood when trying to gain clarification. I enjoyed my waiters as they were always upbeat and knew exactly what me and mom wanted every time we frequented the restaurant.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
I thought the ships layout was awesome and the fact that areas were always clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Loved the cabin. It was the perfect size for me and my mom. I hated the fluffiness of the pillows as they were so thick. I prefer my pillows flat since they help me sleep better. Not to mention the bed could've been softer but overall, it was comfortable. The only downside to this cabin was the constant noise at night. We were on Deck 2 and all the noise from the mechanical room and possibly crew members were loud. That was annoying. The room was clean, but the balcony needed more cleaning. There was dried up hair left from previous guests. It wasn't noticeable until you were actually sitting down relaxing.
Ship tip
I would sail the Carnival Horizon again but rethink purchasing the drink package and internet package. They were both a waste for us since we didn't drink nowhere the 15 drinks a day. My cellphone bill was still atrocious despite purchasing the internet plan.
