Review summary

Had a great time. Really liked the ship and already have another cruise booked on the Horizon. Would definitely recommend the ship and the destinations.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Without a doubt the fastest and easiest embarkation yet.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
As always the food was really good. Especially enjoyed the Teppanyaki and Farenheit 555. The pig and anchor was really good. Enjoyed the smoked porter served there.

Liquid Lounge

2 out of 5

Very poorly designed, most seats have an obstructed view by either the construction of the theater or the person in front of you. A lot of the current shows take place on the floor which reduces visibility even more.

Bonsai Teppanyaki

5 out of 5

Was a fun and enjoyable experience. The chef was funny, talented and a great cook. Definitely recommend.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The water slides were a lot of fun. Loved the sky ride and ropes course. Caught a movie in the IMAX theater.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
My least favorite main theater shows of all the cruises I've been on. The singers, dancers and musicians were quite good just not a fan of the shows except Celestial Strings. The theater is poorly designed.

Carnival Multiplex

5 out of 5

Watched a first run movie and a 3D documentary in the theater. The IMAX format was great, surround sound was awesome, seats very comfortable. Really cool feature to have onboard.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As always the service staff was really good. Our cabin steward was exceptional.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Typical Spa level cabin with balcony. The ship is still very new so everything was in great condition. The mattress was a little firm for my liking but tolerable. Lots of room for clothes and gear.

Ship tip

The new elevators can be a little frustrating as people do not follow the instructions for calling the cars. Found ourselves waiting for them to arrive for a long time on many occasions. Be prepared.

Ports of call

Oranjestad, Aruba

Didn't see much of the pier and the immediate area as we had booked an excursion that used most of our time here. Would definitely go back to explore more. The excursion was to De Palm Island for the day. Absolutely gorgeous water. Spent a good percentage of our time snorkeling and looking at the fish and coral there. The snorkel gear they let you use was really good and they do a great job of keeping it clean. The water park was closed for remodeling so can't say much other than it looks like it will be quite nice when finished. Lunch was included but was nothing special. Would definitely do this one again.

La Romana, Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Didn't spend any real time at the port as we headed out immediately on an excursion to monkeyland. The travel to and from was a little over an hour each way on a bus and you get to see both urban and rural areas on the trip. Spending time with the monkeys was a blast and well worth the travel. Would definitely recommend this excursion.

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
Beautiful port, love all the colors off the buildings, lots to do and see within an easy walk if the pier.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Never left the beach that's at the end if the pier. Water was warm, clear and quite enjoyable.

Disembarkation
