I was really surprised and impressed of the services provided by the staff. Very professional and congenial. I truly believe they love working for Horizon. Overall experiences very good.
Embarkation

Easy and convenient: Upon arrival from our flight SAV to Mia, picked up our luggages and right across from the baggage claim is Carnival counter. Checked in, tagged the luggages, and then transferred to the ship. Went straight to the Carnival waiting lounge and not too long of a waiting we boarded Horizon. It was that simple and no stress!

Food and Dining

Now, the food is a different story. We never ate at the main dining because we were in the waiting list for the duration of our cruise. Very poor management here. However, they have a lot of restaurants, ex.: Guy's Burger, guest favorite place, a must try, free. Guy's BBQ Smokehouse, free. Bonsei Sushi Bar, highly recommend it, budget friendly. Bonsei Tappanyaki, very good, mangolian wok, and Italian restaurant they all reasonable good and inexpensive. And lido buffets. They are two buffets with different menus so check them out. I found out about the different menu on the last day of my cruise. Also, they have seafood shack, and fine dinning steakhouse. Overall, I am impressed of the wide variety of restaurants available on this ship. I gave 3* because of the waiting list. Unacceptable and inexcusable.
Onboard Activities

First and foremost, the live production shows were the best ever I've seen. I've been on different cruises on different ships, but I have to give it to Horizon for their productions. I was in awe, and impressed. They are better than Celebrity Edge in my opinion.
Onboard activities, just okay. The daily activities typical of cruise ships. The one thing I really appreciated was the Carnival Hub App. So convenient and everything is in your smart phone. This app is connected to Carnival wifi and it's free for all guest.
Entertainment

Simply excellent. The best ship's stage shows ever! I consider myself queen cruiser and I have never encountered just beautiful, awesome, talented singers, dancers, musicians, etc. as the Horizon. Kudos! And thanks for giving us such pleasure and enjoyment.
Children's Programs

Although, we don't have kids, but Horizon, seriously, you couldn't contend those kids. Our stateroom, balcony, we were sandwiched between two families from each side with their s bratty kids. They were screaming, laughing, yelling to the wee hours. We didn't have decent sleep each night because the parents kept their children up to past midnight. Please Carnival in the future put all families with kids in one deck and scream all night for all I care.
Service and Staff

For a ship this size, I was extremely impressed how friendly and professional the staff. Usually, mega cruise ship the staff provide very poor service and they hated their job, but not Horizon, they really wanted to satisfy the guest needs and wants. Kudos!
Ship Quality

Cleanliness is another story. I went to Liquid Lounge I took a seat and suddenly I started smelling an offensive smell, like someone urinated on the floor. I think the Liquid Lounge was over used and wasn't given time to be cleaned well. Also, another reason this might happen is because Horizon allowed its guests to roam around with their wet bikinis everywhere on the ship. Seriously, Horizon, don't you think you should up the dress code. Some teenagers were roaming around with their thong bikinis. Shame!
Cabin / Stateroom

I'm giving a 4* because of the lack of storage space. There are plenty of walls empty that should have been built in shelves, storage cabinet, and etc. As cleanliness a 5*. And I love, love my towel animals. Lovely touch! Kudos!
Ship tip
My advice is beware this ship targeted young generation, therefore, it's too noisy, indecent attairs, very warm ship, and you might never eat in the main dining room.
I enjoyed Curacao, and Aruba. However, I was shocked and disappointed with La Romana, DP. Very poor country and dirty. On the other hand, rich in history. I voted La Romana, DP as the best ever welcoming reception. It was truly beautiful and so representative of their culture and country. My favorites are Curacao and Aruba. Clean and beautiful island.
The tour we did was very good. Can't remember what it was. But I think it was the city walking tour and I highly recommend it. We were here on July 3, it was our 29th wedding anniversary and we celebrated at this restaurant with a view of the ocean the cruise ships. It was seafood restaurant and it was very delicious meals we had, but couldn't remember the name of the restaurant. It was recommended by the Information Desk inside the Fort.
The best ever disembarkation. I think Horizon nailed it! Stress free, simple, easy. Kudos! I hope other cruise ships will follow Horizon dismbakation process.
You have to remember that you went right got in the middle of summer vacation. ALL kids are out of school so parents are taking they’re vacations and there will be a ton of kids on cruise ships right now.
