I would cruise again by the2ofus

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

It was our first cruise and our experience on the ship  exceeded our expectations, and will use Carnival again in the future. We were very pleased with the attention to details of the staff, and their willingness to make our voyage pleasurable. As for the Islands we visited, Puert Rico was the best, and I wish we had a longer stay there. St. Thomas was a delight, but Nassau, other than our visit to the magnificent Atlantis hotel, and Turcks Island was a total waste of our time,

loved the ship...........but by doorpost

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

we were not asked about seating arraingements and for some reason we ended up in a booth.  the booth was upstairs and kind of in a corner next to a wall.  could not see the dancers and didn't like being stuffed in the corner.  good thing the people we sat with were nice.

entertainment stunk.the shows were not up too par..............you had the diva show and it was bad.  then the other show was extremely lame. it was pretty poor taste.

the hypnotist was ok. but that was it.

i found the food to be less quality than last years.  we have gone on carnival once a year for the past 6 years.  i am thankful however that we didn't have any real problems like the fire and others.

our suite was perfect, i loved it.

i loved our balcony and the view, we have a balcony every year but this one was awesome.

we noticed a decrease in size of waiters and waitresses.  everyone was polite but a noticable diffference in help ....

pizza and burgers were superb.  a great elevation from what they had last year.  keep that going.

ice cream was way better as well

do away with the fish and chips, due to the fact that the fish was soggy.  and the breading was soggy as well.

thank goodness you kept the chocolate lava.dessert

the incidentals were cheap.........nothing but shampoo and toothpaste.  we use to have a lot more fun stuff

anyway, i am planning a cruise for next year already ........maybe 2 like in may and november.  but less pricey

i hope this helps you guys.  ps: your casino selection was pretty lame as well, i spent over 1000 in slots and won nothing.,  but that is the chance you take.  however, it is first time since cruising it has been that way.  you guys need to get more selection and better equipment.  some of the slots had no sound.  especially the jungle one.  get it together. lol

it was fun, no matter

Ho Hum Carnival by LizCityCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my 4th cruise. It was my first with Carnival. It will also be my last with Carnival. Poor service, mediocre food and poor communication turned what should have been a great vacation into a frustrating time. One shining star was Guy's Burger Joint. It was fantastic. Loved the shop rag napkins. The dining room service was excellent. Each meal had one food item that was very good. Unfortunately it was teamed up with one or more items that were poor quality or simply did not go together. Lack of information and misinformation created problems on the shore excursions. We had problems with the room steward.

Sadly the last Bahamas Cruise from Norfolk by Jheretired

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was the first, and unfortunately, the last cruise on the Carnival Glory out of Norfolk, due to Carnival's decision to re-deploy the Glory to Miami and abandon this great port.  The embarkation and debarkation were the smoothest we have ever encountered and the staff were very accomodating.

Please...Carnival...rethink this decision!

Now as for the ship...the Glory is now our favorite ship!  The layout is great, the decor is less gawdy than some of the others in the fleet, and the staff and crew were wonderful to deal with.  The food was good. I also HIGHLY recommend one night in the Steakhouse.  Our Cruise Director, Matt, was so very friendly and knowledgable.  The shows were exceptional (and I am pretty picky about musical entertainment).  The Punchliner comedy club was GREAT (Allyn Ball is a great talent...see him if you can).

Nassau is a great port to explore...easy to get around in and shop.  For a special treat, try Olives Bistro Restaurant downtown (easy walking distance from the ship).

Freeport is a good port to take an excursion (we went snorkeling...it was a good choice).

Since it was a short cruise (five nights), we packed in everything we could possibly do in the time we had...but had a ball doing it!

Carnival Glory 5-day Bahama Cruise by rubybagget

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The boat was nice and huge. But food was just alright. The shows were not exactly to my taste. Too many people and some were not very courteous.

Norfolk Port was excellent. Very organized and fast paced. Even the collection of the luggage during the embarkation was well organized.

Carnival Housekkeping and Dining Crew were Awesome! Very polite, accomodating, friendly and courteous. Didn't have  a chance to meet the Captain.

New England & Canada trip by Feigele

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

If to think in general about this cruise -  I do have pleasant memories from places we visited. We had good time on ship with my husband. Ship is neat and clean. Food are excellent. Entertaiment was very poor. Not many varieties of musicians. Show was cancelled few times by technical reasons. But sunsets and sunrise - amasing.

Carnival Glory Canada, New England, New York by PeterDFlorida

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

We really enjoyed the Carnival Glory.  We spent a day in New York City, that was great to do that before our cruise.  We took the hop on hop off bus trip in Downtown Manhattan and then took the Night Downtown bus trip in Manhattan.  It was easy to get a cab from the hotel to the ship.

In Boston, we took the hop on hop off city tour, that was good, and ate seafood at the harbor get off stop, and then took the cab back to the ship.

In Saint John, we did not want the 5 hour tour ride out to the Bay of Fundy, so we rented an Avis car, near the ship, to drive out there and back.  It's a 45 minute trip.  Make a reservation for the car rental ahead of time, though.

We did not get off the ship in Portland or Halifax.

The ship generally has enough to do for most people.

The Carnival has seemed to reduce some of their daily daytime activities - they did not have all of the games and bingo every day, like we had experienced before.

The only negative I could say is the cut back of the Lido deck dining hours.  We went to the Lido deck dining, one formal evening, in place of the dining room, and it was closed.  We also went to the Lido deck for dining, I guess about 8:30 pm, one evening, and the buffet was closed.  We had not seen this type of closing on Carnival before.

Also, they did not seem to have large production shows on every night of the 7 night cruise; I think only two or three production shows.  This appears to be a definite cutback for Carnival Cruises.

This fall cruise is a middle age - senior citizen cruise, not really for teens and children.

The buffet was only open for a few hours and it was slimm pickings and once again COLD! My wife said they should have warming stations to warm up food, the Dinning room food was not that good ,oh yea served COLD !  Sorry Carnival never againAngry

Nova Scotia by Nova

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

I loved being spoiled by the treatment I received during the cruise, but the best was the cooperation with Mother Nature and the weather! The entertainment was fun, but I wouldn't rate it as excellent. The food was fabulous and service I would rate as excellent. The different activities were on going while on board and you mde your own fun with the staff's support!

great cruise but the food on the buffet is getting horrible, desserts were mostly inedible. couple were really good like the tiramissou but the rest tasted like they were made from artificial ingredients. after 2 or three days, the food looked like it was leftover from the night

Great cruise with bad food by Raycertx

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

The cruise was wonderful. The crew was helpful and always friendly. The shore excursions were just as good. Meals were not as wonderful. There was plenty to eat and lots of high calory snacks to keep everyone from getting hungry. The meat was mostly dry and very chewy. At first we ate at the buffet and thought the dry, tough meat was what was left over from the main dining rooms. Then we ate at the Golden and the chicken was just as tough as the buffet chicken. Veggies were usually fine but occasionally there would be some that were over cooked. Service was always as expected and often above the call of duty. If those meals had been served to the navy, there would have been mutiny.

Loved the Deli Sandwiches and the Pizza, but dining room food needs improvement, especially the French cuisine. The staff are wonderful. Overall a good cruise.

Great value. by cruisercutie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Canada, New England, New York

This was my 7th cruise and my first with Carnival. We had pre-boarding passes that we completed at home at our leisure and printed out. We arrived at the port (Pier 90 in Manhattan) around 10:30. Embarkation was very organized. We waited a very short time until our number was called. Lobby that we were guided in to was dark and somewhat dismal. Lunch had few selections in the Lido dining area. We ate the Guy Fieri burgers and they were great. Lots of topping options and flavor was delish. Headed for the cabin and was pleased with size of room. There were 3 of us sharing the cabin. Carnival Glory has very large ocean view windows. The could use some spiffing up as they appeared spotty or pitted but didn't detract much from the experience. There was only a small shower stall in the bathroom. Shipping off and leaving towards Boston was wonderful and a highlight of the trip. Seeing the sights of New York City from the ship's vantage point was priceless i.e., empire state building, twin towers memorial, sailing UNDER the Brooklyn bridge, the Statue of Liberty brought tears to my eyes. We had late night dining option and sad to say, the food on Carnival Glory left a lot to be desired. There were several entrees that were left uneaten due to lack of flavor or just plain unappealing. Chateaubriand was my favorite for the entire 7 days. We went to the Platinum dining room for tea and were happy with the little cakes, scones and the flavor of the tea. On sea days spent some time in the casino. Large and a good selection of slots. There were many activities that wer presented on the main stage in the casino, which was very convenient. Now to the ports...Boston was great....lots of photo opps....Had great weather in Portland, Maine. Seemed as though we stepped back in time....St John was a little confusing. We were lucky to share a cab with some people we met while waiting for a bus that never came. $50.00 dollars total for one hour of sight seeing. The Reversing Tides have to be timed just right or it just another large inlet. Nice views of the ship. Halifax was our favorite. The weather was beautiful. A perfect balmy 75 degrees. Take the walk along the harbor to the Maritime museum. Lots of worthwhile things to see and artifacts and information about the Titantic. Very sobering. We had breakfast in the Red Sail restaurant while we waited for our number to be called for disembarkation, which was very organized. Will book with HAL next time.
