Review summary

7 Day Western Caribbean. Had a great time overall. We are already looking forward to the next one.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
I'm not sure what happened but it seemed like everyone showed up for the cruise at the same time, regardless of their check in time. This created a huge line of people trying to get on. We ended up standing in line for over two hours. It could have been because people were trying to beat the Mardi Gras traffic. It's the only time I have ever seen this.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was of typical quality for a Carnival cruise. The main dining room had good options for dinner, although it seemed the menu was somewhat lacking on a couple of nights. Guy' Burgers were great as usual.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Plenty to do if you are so inclined.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
While we didnt watch any of the stage shows, we did enjoy the music on board. We spent a lot of time listening to the live music. Several of the musicians on board were great.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
We had a great stateroom steward named Rodrigo. He took great care of us all week. We also found a really good waiter named Roshan in the Golden dining room. Other areas seemed to have Carnival's typical level of service, which I'm never disappointed in.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship is a bit older and in need of a dry dock. That being said she still has a lot to offer. Some of the public areas showed some signs of wear and there were some funky smells on occasion in the hallways. Other than that I didnt notice any issues.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was a typical balcony stateroom. Very adequate for the wife and I.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

3 out of 5
We have been to Cozumel several times so we didnt do an excursion this time. We just hopped off the ship and did some shopping. The port has a lot to offer as far as shopping goes.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

2 out of 5
This was our second time in this port. If we ever go back we will probably just stay on the ship that day. The port itself doesnt offer much and people are very pushy trying to sell stuff to you. Most will accept it when you say no thanks and move on, but occasionally you find someone that wants to follow you down the street.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
We love Grand Cayman. We did an excursion to 7 Mile Beach and really enjoyed our time there. This is a beautiful island, and all the locals we interacted with were very friendly.

New Orleans, Louisiana

5 out of 5
Had a lot of fun at Mardi Gras the night before our cruiseq.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy. We stayed in our stateroom until our deck was called. We were in our car and on the road twenty minutes later.
