Review summary

This was our 4th cruise and 2nd on the Glory. It's a good ship, just needs a little maintenance. But all in all, just had a relaxing vacation.

Embarkation

Embarking was not a problem, but I do think they should have a specific area for each zone. We had A01, but were sitting with other zones, so you had to maneuver around others to get out. Bit still went smoothly.

Food and Dining

The main dining area and pizza, burgers and tacos were all great, no issues at all.

Emerald Room Steakhouse

This was by far the worst experience we've had in the Steakhouse. It started off good, 3 waitstaff, but then quickly deteriorated. Took forever to get drinks, I think we threw them off by asking for the wine pairings they offer with each course, then we would get the wine, but not with the course. They start you off with the pre appetizer appetizer, but then took another half an hour to get the appetizer. The pork belly was not that great, and the lobster bisque was fishy. Then it took another half hour to 45 minutes to get the main entree which was also disappointing. Wagyu beef is supposed to be flavorful and tender. This was neither. And the wine pairings were still off, we got them well before being served the entree. Dessert was ok, but since we had already spent close to 3 hours in the place, we ended up taking them to go. And once again, got the desserts well before we got the wine. All in all, this was not a good experience. Hopefully will not be like that the next time.

Onboard Activities

Can do as little or as much as you want. Found the giant chess board outside and played, that was fun. Just really sat out and watched everything.

They really need to start going digital with these. So much waste when most of them end up getting thrown away and it's hard to find your picture in all of them.

Entertainment

DJ's were great. Fun music all the time. For my own personal preference, the steel drum player was too loud and just did not sound good.

Although we didn't stay for a while movie, it's always fun to sit out on deck and watch movies on the giant screen.

Service and Staff

Our lead steward, Sur was great. I truly do not know how they keep everybody's name straight when they have so many people, but he always called you by name when he saw you. Our dining staff, Dennis, Charles and Jefri were amazing every night. Always remembered what you drank, my husband never had to ask for his Pepsi, they had it to him almost as soon as he sat down. Just awesome.

Ship Quality

Not going to lie, the ship had some issues, but it's an older ship and it happens. Needs a bit of an overhaul I think, but there was nothing that interfered with my trip, si it's all good.

First time in a balcony room. Bigger room, plus the balcony. Loved it, will do it again.

Ship tip

Just have a great time. Little things will come up, don't let it ruin your experience.

Did not do an excursion, got off to just look in the shops. However, I must have missed the part where they said the shops are in ocho rios, and you would have to take a bus there. There are no shops in Montego Bay. Unless you have an excursion, stay on the boat.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Went to Hell, got the passport stamped. Took a public bus for $5 round trip and that worked just fine. Then jus looked around the shops and got back onboard.

I've been on Glory once out of Miami. Rocky start, but eventually a fun cruise. I try to make the most of my vacation. So glad you did too! Carnival did compensate me for the rocky start.
