Review summary

We love cruising with Carnival. We love the staff and the food so we will remain loyal. It's truly the "fun" ship.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
This was our 3rd time sailing out of New Orleans but this was the quickest we have ever gotten on the ship. I think from car to ship we were on in 30 minutes. Phenomenal! However, this cruise was the worst Muster station experience I've ever had. It took forever!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We always enjoy Carnival's food. There are so many choices to pick from. We only ate in the MDR once but our wait staff was top notch. The service was also quicker. We were out in a little over an hour. In past cruises, we were sitting in there for over 2 hours. Buffet food, guys burgers, taco stand, etc were all great per usual.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I attended the vast majority of the shows in the auditorium, atrium music trivias, and a few of the day-time trivias. Our CD, Dustin Gabriel, is the best CD I've ever had. He makes every event more fun!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
I'd say this group of entertainers was on par with other Carnival cruises I've been on. I do wish they had a magician show instead of a juggling show. But it's always nice to see something new. They had a "Lip Sync Battle" show which was funny. It was nice to see a new show in the rotation.

Children's Programs

We didn't have any children in our group.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I have to say, the staff on this cruise was among the top staff I have interacted with. Our cabin steward and MDR waiter were just phenomenal.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The Glory was not one of my favorite Carnival ships as far as design and layout. I didn't care for the decor. It was either gaudy or dimly-lit in many areas. My Dad said he found the ship layout confusing but I didn't find it any different than any other Carnival ship. The ship itself was well maintained. All areas were clean. I didn't see any carpet stains, etc. The staff was constantly cleaning the ship - deep cleaning!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Same as always. Again, we had an awesome cabin steward.

Ship tip

If you eat in the buffet, don't be afraid to take your meals up in the upstairs BBQ restaurant. There's often much more seating available, especially during breakfast. Also, the BBQ restaurant is open every day, not just Sea Days.

Ports of call

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
We like Key West but it was unbearably hot this day. However, we were able to make use of the free public bus (the Duval Loop) which was wonderful. It's air conditioned and makes several stops which made things much easier.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

4 out of 5
Not our favorite port of call but this day was a positive experience. Upon getting off the ship we were greeted by a professional taxi driver who took us to the Grand Lucayan Resort. She took us directly there, $10 per person round trip, no fuss. The resort has sadly been quite damaged by the hurricane but all the staff were friendly and professional. You can purchase a $5 beach pass, $21 resort/pool pass, or a $78 all inclusive pass. We opted for the $21 pass and enjoyed the pool and scenery.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

4 out of 5
This is our favorite port of call on any cruise. However, there had been storms the night before so the beach (and ocean water) was covered in seaweed which was a bummer. But we still made the most of the day, relaxing on the beach and enjoying the free lunch.

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

We've gotten off the ship at this port numerous times and unfortunately it's never been a positive experience. We chose to stay on the ship this day. It was raining anyway.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Probably the quickest debarkation we've ever had, I think we were off the boat in 30 minutes.

Love Carnival

As per other comments, I agree , it is usually other cruisers with absolutely no regard for any other passengers time that ends up causing the drills to take so much more time than is needed.

Yami17    5 years ago

I agree with the drill. We took a VERY long time just standing there doing nothing and it was getting so hot when we were on the Glory in January.

We also found Dustin to be an enthusiastic CD. It is too bad that the Muster drill was long. Probably as already mentioned, fellow passengers not showing up. Glad you enjoyed your cruise.🛳

Nice!....Its usually idiots that think they are exempt from the Muster drill that causes it to take forever..
