So glad we took this cruise and had Carnival Glory for our ship to meet so many wonderful crew members, fellow cruisers, and natives!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Both my wife and I are mobility challenged and were having a tough time with so much walking and carrying our carry-on luggage plus Winter coats until a couple of Carnival employees brought wheelchairs and pushed us all the way onto our deck on Glory! Best $20 we spent for those two guys!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Platinum Restaurant was outstanding for breakfast and dinner with the one exception that was "Elegant Night" and, as a first time cruiser, came in with shorts and t-shirt and was kicked out to my embarrassment. I know better now but they should have a sign or poster to warn us uneducated cruisers.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We did not like the Activity Cruise Director from the first night show when he reneged giving out two free cruises to the winners of the night's events and slipped them a replica of a ship instead. We also did not like when the ship had a Marriage Renewal Vows ceremony and it was terribly disorganized and made a mockery of the event.
However, other than above, I will give the Activity Director big thanks for a memorable "Tribute to Military Veterans" where various branches of the military in US and other countries were recognized and interesting discussions took place.
There was lots of shows for cruisers to watch and sometimes participate in as well. What made the cruising more fun were our fellow cruisers who were friendly and active for the most part.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
As mentioned earlier, other than a few mistakes, we found the entertainment to be quite broad and good. The comedy shows were very well done.
Children's Programs
We did not have any children with us.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our wait staff were phenomenal! Adam Joseph was our favorite waiter as he was so personable and interesting. Rolando was also fabulous. All staff worked to make everybody feel special and make the experience delightful. Thank you all!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The Carnival Glory is an older ship that has been renovated a few years ago and is beautiful. The. re are areas where the age shows on the ship but not to the point of being distracting. We thought that the first priority for Carnival Glory would be to replace the carpeting on the passenger cabin decks as there is some mold/air issues.
I woke up at 3am one morning to go look at the night time stars from the top deck and was amazed at how many staff were busy cleaning everything little thing. They certainly tried to keep the ship as immaculate as possible.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our balcony cabin was perfect for us! Lots of light with incredible private balcony views and sitting area with a nice bathroom and fantastic king size bed with amazing comfortable mattress! Wish we could have packed that mattress in our carry-on but probably would not fit. ha ha. We need to find out what mattress that was and how to order one for our home.
Our cabin steward was Edy and he did a great job keeping our cabin spotless and supplied with extra face cloths as I tend to use them more in hot weather.
Ship tip
Pass on all the booze and enjoy the trip and people.
What a beautiful city! We took the Everglades excursion on our last day. Miami is busy building on the ocean's edges for sure! Lots of traffic and TOLLS! Our tour bus saw lots of toll areas.
This was probably our favorite port as we loved the skyride and beach experience. We went for the snorkeling experience but that was disappointing but we did not care as we were so happy to be in warm Caribbean water and enjoying the sunshine and fellow beach goers.
We did the snorkeling excursion over the reefs. The tender boat ride was rough and crowded as we picked up even more passengers from another ship. They should have had a bigger and more comfortable boat for all us as I did not appreciate getting wet on the boat ride.
However, the 20 to 30 minutes we spent snorkeling over the reefs was outstanding!! We loved it! But we only got to go over the reef once and that was extremely disappointing as we spent more time on the nearby cove which could have easily been going over the coral reefs a couple more times. It was windy but not too bad.
We just did shopping here and enjoyed talking with everybody. Some really good prices to be had if one comparison shops. We liked how the shopping area was laid out and how it was decorated.
