Service was lacking for the most part; nice ship and great ports were the saving grace!

Review summary
Service was not what we expected after having cruised with other lines in the past. We never saw the cruise director, as an example, and we are used to seeing them everywhere! The food service staff in nearly every outlet seemed as if they would rather be anywhere else...the one exception was the Emerald Room (specialty dining) where the staff was excellent! Our dining room servers were okay, but the Red Sail Restaurant (Lido deck buffet) staff were terrible. Ship overall was well maintained and clean. Ports were great, although the itinerary was not what we originally booked. The Eastern Caribbean is still recovering from the hurricanes and we gladly accepted an alternate voyage. Not sure I would sail with Carnival again based on this experience.Embarkation
