Review summary

This was a great family cruise. Our group of 19 ranged from 72 - 5 years of age. The ports we stopped at provided history, water fun and sightseeing. It was pretty hot/humid, but that was expected for July. You could be as active as you wanted. The kids loved the self serve ice cream and Guys Burgers.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had "priority" boarding, so embarkation was not a problem.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We ate in the dining room each evening (two tables) and our waitstaff was excellent! The food was very good. We did not eat at the specialty steak house this cruise.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Our family group included six boys, ages 12-17. They explored the ship and enjoyed the pools and the slide. The adults also enjoyed the pool areas (especially the Serenity pool).

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We went to two of the stage shows. Great, fun music. The singers/dancers were top-notch.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
My sister's grandson (age 5) loved the kids club. He made friends and liked to be there without his parents. The six teenage boys said the teen center was OK.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Hosni and Marenis were excellent waiters. We opted for the early dining, assigned table. Our group of 19 switched seats during the week, but the guys remembered our names and we had fun during dinner. Leonora was our room steward. She was wonderful. Our cabin was kept clean and fresh for us. She was always available, if needed.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Overall, the design and layout is good. It's easy to get around, once you've explored the ship. It's older and the cabins are in need of a good "deep cleaning".

Cabin / Stateroom

We decided to upgrade to an ocean suite this cruise. I think we are now spoiled. It was much larger than cabins we have had in prior sailings. The bathroom had a shower/tub and two sinks. Lots of closet and drawer space. Our suitcases slid under the bed easily to keep out of the way. Our little balcony was really nice for sitting outside, but getting away from the crowd. The furniture and carpet looked like they could use some deep cleaning or replacing. Just aging/usage issues.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

3 out of 5
We flew into Miami the night before we sailed. No excursions or exploring the city.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

The grandsons loved this port. We did not book an excursion, but they walked further along the beach to be able to get away from the crowd. They enjoyed snorkeling on their own. Very clean - and since we were the only ship in port, not too crowded.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

4 out of 5
This was the one day it rained, so it did dampen our excursion to St John Trunk Bay, but overall it was fun. We snorkeled and enjoyed the beach.

San Juan, Puerto Rico
